Well look who the cat dragged in!
Yep I am back from LOEG but unfortunately it wasn't all I had dreamed of!
As most of you know we arrived home discover that my Dad wasn't well due to kidney cancer. He is starting him on some new drugs as soon as they arrive from Canberra - with any luck that will be today - (they are all held at a central location and sent out after approval to specific approved pharmacies). They are insanely expensive (and I mean insanely - at about $15,000 PER MONTH) but we are very lucky that Dad has been able to fit into a test group and gets them for free from the drug company. The aim of the drugs is to 'hopefully' shrink the tumors and give him a bit more quality of life (the tumor in his lung is large and makes him feel out of breath all the time - so much so that he hardly does anything any more). He will do cycles with this drug of 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off indefinitely. Best case scenario is that these drugs will keep the cancer under control for enough time to wait for something better to come along.
WE had planned to return to the US on Sunday but Cameron F'ed up and read the tickets wrong so we missed the flight on Sunday and had to rebook for Monday. (Naturally I haven't mentioned it

) We arrived nice and early for the Monday flight but unfortunately after boarding the plane they discovered there was a technical problem with the computer so they had to replace it causing a bit over a three hour delay so we arrived in LA just in time to miss our flight to Dallas, luckily we made (just) the next flight and arrived back in Dallas same day very exhausted but safe and sound and with all our luggage.
The children have woken up at 1 am both mornings and stayed awake until around 4 (gotta love jetlag) tonight I am giving them both a dose of antihistamine and cross my fingers that it will help them sleep!
Good things on our holiday included catching up with a few friends, not as many as I had hoped due to running around with Mum and Dad to and fro doctors appts and tests. We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Mooloolaba (I love that place)with friends and family popping in every day, some staying over and some doing day visits (eg Kayla). We also had a blast at my cousin's wedding, although it may have been classified as a little 'over the top, complete with fireworks, it was beautiful and we got to see all the uncles, aunts and cousins as well as my dear sweet Grandmother.
WE had a house inspection and the house looks great. The tenants are fantastic, pay on time etc, are keen to stay for a couple of years. They keep the house and yard very clean and tidy, nothing broken and no problems, they even offered us a coffee while we were there! I had actually forgotten how cute my house was, now I remember why we renovated the way we did.
I had a few flat white's and a couple of meat pies, ate through half a truckload of Allen's jelly lollies and Cadbury chocolates.
I am very glad to report that I have managed to get 4 containers of vegemite (we are hard core when it comes to vegemite) here safely.
Anyway I better get going, still haven't managed to get through all the washing so I better get onto it, not to mention all the bloody dusting I need to do. It's amazing how much settles around the place while you are away for a month.
Oh we arrived home to discover our cable had been cut off, apparently the don't send a reminder if you miss your pay by date! WTF Anyway its been paid and is all hooked up again now - thankfully.
Hope you are all well. Will try to read the old thread and catch up on everyone soon.
hugs
Relle
