This may have already been discussed, but thought this was a great book, today on Oprah they had the author Elizabeth Gilbert, and had stories of people that were inspired by the book.
Anyone here read it?

I bought it after seeing some of the episode with Oprah. It's fabulous so far - but then again she is eating her way through Italy. Yum!

I enjoyed it as a light read - particularly liked the Italy and Indonesia bits - but I have to say that I lost patience with her self-absorption after a while and I didn't find her a particularly likeable person.

Jo, I agree - I found her SOOOO self absorbed and annoying. The Bali bit was better though. Still a worthwhile book to read.

I'm about two thirds of the way through it - am about to start Indonesia. As PP's have mentioned I enjoyed Italy, but found India a hard slog......hopefully Indonesia will be more enjoyable original.gif

I have it on my shelf to read although after the comments it may go back a few books before I get to it. original.gif

I finished it last night. Thought it was a good light read but not sure what the fuss is about. The women on Oprah were even highlighting their way through it and talking about it changing their lives.

I think an important part of our culture in Australia is to travel. This book could have been written by any of my friends who did their 2 years travel at 21. Americans are different and don't tend to do as much as we do - so maybe that's why it is such a big thing for them.....?

But anyway - it was a good light read. original.gif
