As above: does anyone think they got it wrong?

I think DD2's name is perfect for her, but the jury's still out DD1. She's a fairly strong flavour, and quite dark and exotic, and I can't help but think her name might be a bit lightweight for her. She's Freya, but I wonder whether she's more of a Claudine or Sukey...

I think that we definitely got DS2 right but sometimes have my doubts about DS1 - he's very blonde, blue-eyed and a bit of a dreamer so I sometimes wish we'd gone with Jasper which was our first choice rather than Matteo which got the family stamp of approval.

Meg, I think that Freya is a very strong, fiesty name. We know one little Freya and she's certainly a girl with attitude.

Loki's real name is right for him....whilst reading this thread I asked him if he would prefer to be called some of the other names we tossed around for him. (Eamon, Benjamin amongst others).

He told me that he'd really much rather be called Fang.

I can't say I share his tastes but short punchy names WOULD suit. He'd make a good Max or Ben.

I do like Sukey......there are a few nickname issues, but a strong girl could wear it well.

Yep Me!!

All of my babies got named around the same time we found out their sex at 20 weeks.

This being my last baby I was searching every place I could for the "perfect" name.

From the 20 week mark she was going to be Stella, I love love love the name and was pretty certain until a day or two before my due date DH said he didnt really like it.

I then changed my mind as well as all my kids are blue eyes and blonde hair and Stella (being more an ethnic name) I pictured this little dark haired baby.

DH and I settled on Caitlyn, far too common for my liking but it has alot of meaning for us and nothing else came up that we both liked or agreed on.

That night after she was born until this day I wish I called her Stella, I sometimes whisper it to her to see what it would feel like calling her that.

I even asked DH if we could change her name, being only a few weeks old it would be easy for people to adjust, but he point blank refused, even now at 8 weeks I want to change it and held on to her birth certificate for weeks, only posting it at the very last minute possible.

He did let me add in an extra midd name so I have Caitlyn MIchelle Stella, bit of a mouth full.

To make it all that harder, she was born with lots of really dark hair and would have suited Stella perfectly.

While Freya is a soft sounding name, to me the associations are very strong, the Norse Goddess thing.
It took me around six months to feel that my DD1's name (Asha) really suited her and wasn't something I 'stuck onto' a baby, does that makes sense? Now at 5.5 she couldn't be anyone else.
My new baby Geordie's name doesn't sit 100% comfortably with me but I assume that it will with more time. The backup name Callan feels too harsh for a tiny baby though I feel Cal for an older child would be fantastic.

I think Freya is a very strong name :
QUOTE
Freyja is portrayed as a goddess of love, beauty, and fertility. Blonde, blue-eyed, and beautiful, Freyja is described as the fairest of all goddesses, and people prayed to her for happiness in love. She was also called on to assist childbirths and prayed to for good seasons. Freyja was also associated with war, battle, death, magic, prophecy, and wealth.

Claudine, however means little lame one.
Sukey, being a variant of Susan means Lily.

I have a Georgia Sienna, and I wish I had called her Sienna, but DH didn't really like it at the time. He now likes it wacko.gif I even thought of calling DD#2 Sienna but though it might of been abit strange. I too used to whisper Sienna when she was a baby, just to imagine calling her that! Georgia does suit DD#1 though, as she is very strong and independant, abit fiery like her mum! grin.gif

Good, I'm not the only one!

I do get all the goddess stuff with Freya, but I still think it's a name for an icy blonde and not a show-off brunette. Her father's Swedish and fair so I didn't expect her to be so dark. Pfft, it doesn't really matter, does it!

I picked Noah for my son while I was pregnant, and in the early weeks I would look at him and think Noah doesnt fit. Now at 20mths he really is Noah.

My other story is about my sister, her name at birth was Gail Floris, though at 3yrs old she refused to answer/responsed to you calling her Gail. From 3yrs old she became Floris, and at 18yrs she legally changed it. She really is Floris.
