Hi,
I'm sitting here looking out the window and I started to think ... what do I love about Winter in Canberra!
I love going to sleep under a cosy doona with the rain falling on the roof.
I love cooking and eating thick steamy casseroles and curries.
I love looking outside, seeing how cold it is knowing how warm I am inside.
I love wearing my winter hat, scarf, coat and gloves whenever we venture out.
I love sitting in front of tv on a cold winter's night knitting something to wear.
I know there are many more reasons to love this time of year in this neck of the woods ...
So what do you love about it?
Cheers,
Helen.

Hi,
I also enjoy canberra in winter some of the highlights are:
* making warm puddings for dessert and serving them with lots of custard
* going on family walks with all the trimmings hats, gloves and scarfs
* staying at home all day with the kids in pyjamas
* having our fire on and sitting back with a glass of red wine
Bye for now,
Larissa

I love seeing frost in the morning, but being warm enough without a jacket by lunchtime.
I love going to the footy at Viking Park!
I love making thick soups and curries.

I love that even though it is really cold, there is usually a nice blue sky and the sun is always shining.

I love that I'm not feeling the cold as much as usual because I have my own personal central heating unit (pregnancy).
I love pumpkin soup with crusty bread.
I love roast veg dinners.
I love looking out the front window at the leaves changing colour outside.
If I wasn't pregnant, I'd love only two hours drive to go snowboarding.
But most of all, I'd love a weekend in Queensland at the end of July!

Great topic!! I've only just decided (this morning) that after years of trying to deny it, I really am a cold weather person.
So what do I love about winter in Canberra?
* Going for a walk around the lake on a blustery day with the wind in my face - how refreshing!
* Snuggling under the doona on a Sunday morning
* Owning more than one winter coat - and getting to wear them!
* Knowing that come summer, it'll be stinking hot again!

I agree with every thing that everybody has said. I love winter; have no idea how I am going to go in Darwin but I am sure I will manage especially in Winter.
Thanks

Rohan, I have one word for you: beer. Darwin is the only place in Australia where I've felt the need to drink alone, and it's also the only place where I've needed a beer to get to sleep at night. Mind you, it's a lot nicer if it's not build-up or wet season.

I must admit that I love any winter day in Canberra compared to the winter day that I am having today in Orange. I swear Charlie's face is frozen for the rest of her life. It is sooooooo cold.
We did just get back from THE WIGGLES though...we all had an absolute ball, my DH was dancing like a trouper, DS slept through the whole thing and DD was amazed that the tv people were so big in real life.
I could sit through the concert a million times...especially for Captain Feathersword.

Can't wait to leave this freezing place!
