Hi,

DH's grandmother is in town and its her birthday tomorrow so we want to go out for lunch. Can anyone recommend anywhere where a 10 month old would be able to crawl/cruise around the table without too much fuss?

Thanks in advance.

If it's not too chilly, how about outside at Hudson's at the Botanic Gardens?

We have been taking our DS to the Canberra Southern Cross Yacht Club on Alexandrina Drive in Yarralumla. Ask for a table in the restaurant as this is a little bit apart from the bar area. And mention that you have a young child so will need a high chair, too. A table near one of the many windows always proved to be a great distraction for our DS as the place overlooks the lake (lots of activity).

DS was crawling and the staff didn't mind at all. We did keep an eye on him but there was plenty of room. It shouldn't be too busy tomorrow so your child shouldn't be in the way of any of the patrons there.

And the food is very delicious ... make sure you leave room for sweets. original.gif

Enjoy!

Cheers,
Helen.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think we might try the Yacht Club as the grandparents went to the Botantical Gardens last week.

Cheers

IMO Botanic Gardens is not so good for crawlers and young toddlers as there are two lots of steps in the outside area at the cafe. We go there for quick coffee stops as DD is easily amused in a high chair for 1/2h but a full meal would be a struggle if she wants to get down and run around.

I would also go for somewhere like the Yacht Club due to them having TABLE SERVICE and better change facilities than the gardens (where baby change is 200m away near the Visitor Info Centre).
