Hi,

I am 6.2 wks pregnant and experienced some slight bleeding late last night. I wasn't too worried last night and this morning as i experienced a miscarriage 7mths ago and the blood colour and type was totally different also i had no pain. But i was still concerned and went to see my GP in Belco today. She had a "look around" and told me that there was a lot of bleeding and that i was having another miscarriage, but sent me to have an immediate u/s. I was beside myself for the 40 minutes i had to wait before the u/s.

Amazingly my baby is fine!!!! Heart beat and foetal movement completley normal. The lady doing the U/S said i had a tiny amount of Subchorionic Blood. I was so exstatic that i forgot to ask her what that is.

I took my u/s to my GP and she just said congratulations. Once again i forgot to ask what i have to do. Do i have to rest, is it dangerous?

Has any one else had this kind of experience with Subchorionic bleeds. I am having trouble finding information on this on the net as well.

Thank you Anna

Anna

I sorry I can't help you with that info, but I just wanted to say happy I am for you.

I've had more then my fair share of m/c and I know what a nightmare it is.

But you could always call the Health First number, can't think of what it is now. But if you can't find it PM me and I'll hunt it down. They have trained nurses always helpful and friendly.

A Subchorionic bleed is a bleed between your uterus wall and the Chorion (which is the outer layer of the placenta) from memory (I am hazy on the exact location of the bleed, but it is around the outer layer somewhere). In 90+% of cases it is no drama, even more so if the bleed is small, and the separation of the placenta from the wall (where the bleeding has occurred) is minimal. So the odds are well and truly in your favour!

Sure, I would not be doing anything too vigorous, but in early pregnancy, bed rest is not often prescribed because it has little effect on the outcome of the pregnancy. But for sure I would have your partner hanging the washing, carrying heavy weights etc (and for the rest of the pregnancy - why not if you can get away with it original.gif)

Maybe take things as easy as possible until you get a chance to speak to your GP/obstetrician?

Good luck! Remember, the odds are well and truly in your favour that this will be fine.

Hi Anna,
Sorry it has been stressful for you, are you feeling better? I am just so glad that your baby is ok.
I had a subchorionic bleed when pregnant with DD, discovered at an 8wks scan, it was right next to where the placenta was developing and I was given a 50/50 chance of getting to 12wks...I'd had a m/c just a few months before this, so needless to say it wasn't easy to 'relax' as everyone told me to! Waiting till the 12wk scan was pretty stressful...but luckily there was no bleeding, and at 12wks the scan showed it had reabsorbed itself!
A friend on mine also had that throughout her pregnancy, and like you it was also discovered following an early bleed. She had regular scans and there was no further bleeding even though the internal pockets of blood increased in size as the pregnancy advanced.
So there are two positive outcomes. Keep your fingers crossed and rest as much as possible. If you are feeling stressed then do something you really enjoy and stay positive. original.gif I'll be thinking of you! original.gif
Good luck,
Alex.
