Don't think we'll actually go with it but it has temporarily captured my imagination.
Shortened to Joss or Jocie.
Thinking it sounds quite feminine, and can be shortened to have a bit of spunk about it.
But then again, it could sound very Grandma-ish???
Thoughts?

It's ok but I wouldn't use it myself. I also think the nickname Joss sounds masculine sorry.

I think it is OK, not too Grandma-ish at all. But then again my Grandma's names were Vera and Joy so I can't really say.
Although it does remind me of the Bride of Wildenstein, Jocelyn Wildenstein. I wouldn't give a child a name that reminded me of someone as ghastly as her!
I've only ever known one Jocelyn, at my old school, and her NN was Joc.

This is one name that just never 'sounds right' to me, I don't know why.

Have to agree here - this is the 1st image that came to my head.
I love Jocie on it's own.
My DS was going to Josie but she was a he. this one if a girl will be Josie.
You could go Josephine

Not a big fan, sorry. It looks a bit 70s to me.
(And did you know it was originally a boy's name? Weird, huh?)
I fully endorse Josephine though.

Apparently I was nearly a Jocelyn, but got Amanda instead.
I actually don't mind it, the NN Joss reminds me of Joss Stone, and I agree it has some spunk.
Jocelyn Wildenstein *shudder* Wouldn't have thought of that though. Eek.

Thanks... pretty much how I feel, really. Like I said, DH and I would probably never choose Jocelyn. I'm just so desperate for a girls name, thought I'd throw it out there. With 13 days to go before this baby comes into the world I'm starting panic!
Any suggestions to go with DD1 Alice?
We like traditional, pretty, but not too popular names.
AHHHH!!!!

Don't like it at all... My real name is Jaclyn (nobody calls me that!) and people used to call me Jocelyn (how - I dunno!) so it irks me from there

I really like Joselyn, with the nn Josie. A traditional name that's not too common.

Please meet my Jocelyn.... (look at my sig).
I totally forget about Jocelyn Wildenstein aka freakasaurus.
My daughter is actually named after my long-suffering piano teacher..... long suffering because she had to teach me for 10 years.
I don't like Joc/ss or Jocie - though my daycare director calls her that just to annoy me. She has a sister called Jocelyn too.
FWIW - she's the ONLY Jocelyn in her daycare centre.

IMO "Jocelyn" is a very pleasant name to say out loud, but TBH I'm not a huge fan of the name itself iykwim...
Also, the nn. "Joss" always reminds me of Joss sticks - tradtionally burned by some cultures, as an offering to the heavens; and Joss paper a.k.a. Ghost paper, which is sometimes burned during traditional Chinese funerals.
However, I really like your DD's name and IMO the following names would compliment "Alice"...
Alice and Ruby
Alice and Lily/Lillian
Alice and Olive
Alice and Camille/Camilla
Alice and Delia
Alice and Ivy
Alice and Lucinda/Lucy
Alice and Millicent
Alice and Violet
Alice and Frances
Alice and Isobel
Alice and Rose
Alice and Elizabeth
Alice and Clara
Alice and Beatrice
Alice and Sadie
Alice and Audrey
Alice and Verity
Alice and Eleanor
Alice and Poppy
Alice and Harriet
Alice and Matilda
Alice and Isadore
Alice and Hazel
Alice and Jemima
Alice and Molly
Alice and Victoria
Alice and Pearl
Alice and Felicity
Alice and Mabel

I think Alice and Josephine go perfectly together. Both beautiful names, can be shortened to sweet nn (Ali and Josie) or tom boy nn's if they so happen to be tom boys (Al and Jo)

I know this is generally a girl's name but only know one person with it and it's a guy (he's Canadian), so that kind of messes me around. But I'm not crazy about it either way, TBH. If you wanted the nickname Joss or similar, and wanted an alternative to the Josephine suggestion, what about Josette?
