Hi there

Has anyone tried the raspberry leaf tea/tablets and if so what do you think of them?

I've read that it can bring labour on and/or make labour quicker - both of which would be good things for me as I'm hoping for a natural birth this time (after having a caesar) which means I can't be induced.

If you did take it, when did you start? I've read that women have taken it from 34 weeks. I'm 34 weeks now and while I'd like baby to be on time I don't want anything to happen just yet (I haven't even finished work!!).

What do you think?

Cheers

Hayley

I just loved my raspberry leaf tea during pregnancy! I made it stronger and stronger as I got closer to my due dates (but I've heard the tablets are more effective). The stronger the tea, the stronger and more frequently I got BH, so it definitely had an effect.

I also kept drinking it after birth to help my uterus get back into tone.

I drank the tea from about 37w (ie term) but only 1 or 2 cups a day. DD was over a week late but I had a nice short and not too painful (no pain relief) labour - doubt the tea had too much to do with that, I would actually give more credit to my activity levels during pg and prenatal yoga.

I drank lots of RL with DS but it didnt make any difference i ended up being induced and having an emergency c/s 15 hrs later.
With DD#2 at 36 and a bit weeks my midwife dropped the bombshell that she was going on leave on my due date. At 36 + 6 days i drank RL tea that night i started having niggles. The next morning i had another cup and that day she was born. It may have been coincidental who will even know.
