Hi.
I really love the name Victoria however I am not fond of Vicki as a nickname at all
How many Victoria's do you know and do they have a nickname? Will my daughter end up being a Vicki if I call her Victoria?
Also what is a nice short middle name to go with it?

I know a few Victorias, and yep their nickname is Vicki with various spellings.
It's not a given that if you name your child Victoria, then she will be nicknamed Vicki. I have never heard of Victoria Beckham being called Vicki! As long as you correct people early on then they are more inclined to NOT shorten the name.
I am with you, Victoria is lovely but Vicki is very '80s!
Some MNs for you to consider
Victoria Lee
Victoria Rose
Victoria Jade
Victoria Grace
Victoria Lucille
Victoria Anne
Victoria Nicole
Victoria Abigail
Hope these help and good luck!!

I've known 2 Victoria's, both of which were called Vicki at school. The one I still see is mostly known as Victoria now. Her middle name is Elizabeth too!
Gorgeous name I think!

My niece is Victoria and her parents made it clear from the beginning that she was Victoria and not Vicky. She only ever gets called Victoria, Tori or Tors. I love the name too and think if you make it clear that she is to be called Victoria (or a nn you like from that) then you won't have too many problems.

Our babysitter is Victoria in her early twenties and her nickname is Vic.
There is a Victoria in my daughter's creche class and she is called by her full name.
I don't think you'd get Vicky in this day and age.

I know a Victoria (in her early 20s) & her nickname has always been Vic.
I also used to babysit a Victoria (she would be about 16 now)& she was always Tori.
I think its a lovely name & i think Vic & Tori are nice NN's but agree Vicki is not so nice.

My niece is called Victoria and she's 26 years old. My sister was adamant that she was not to be called "Vicky", and she mostly got Tor or Tori growing up. Mind you all her peers now call her Vicky, though the family tend to refer to her as Vic. No one has called her Tor or Tori in years.
Her middle name is Ann.
If you really love the name, I'd go with it. As PP said, you can train others that Vicky is not acceptable, but in the end it will be up to your little girl as she grows to make her own decision as to what she wants to be known as.
Cheers,
Robbie

I was to be called Victoria, nn Tori, my dad had decided against it and signed the birth certificate while my mum was sleeping

. Anyway once Tori Spelling came on the scene I was relieved not to be a Tori.
I do know a Victoria only called Vix/Vicks which I think is a really nice nn, far preferable to Vicki.

My partner's sister is a Victoria. Her nickname is Toria - everyone calls her that now - and she chose it herself at about the age of four!

I went to school with a Victoria and woe betide anyone who called her Vicky! When she had a nickname (mostly people called her by her full name) it was "V".

My 'baby' cousin who is 9 today!
We mostly call her 'Vic', and have done since she was toddler.
Her name is Victoria Lily.
DD's friend is also a Victoria.
Pretty sure it's a Victoria Jean, and she gets called "Vee'

All the Victorias I have known have been known as Victoria or Tori. I think Vicky is a bit 'dated' now.

Hi

I had this problem as well. I LOVE both Victoria and Elizabeth as names, but really do not like Vicki or Liz.
At one stage I was thinking of Victoria Lily, Victoria Jade, Elizabeth Jade or Elizabeth Ruby.
I decided not to risk the nicnames I hated though and went with Ruby Elizabeth. If I ever have another little girl she will be Lily Victoria.

I have a daughter Victoria and we call her Victoria. I can't stand Vicky either and she's never been known by that. People will just call her by what you call her and I'd be willing to bet if I yelled out "Vicky" Victoria wouldn't have the faintest idea I was calling her. For a while I wished we'd had called her Vittoria to stop the link to Vicky, but then there would have been constant spelling mistake issues
We tried Tori & Tor as a nick name, but it just didn't take. I just call her Victoria.
Her name is Victoria Jennifer Nina
I love Victoria Rose.

I love that no one likes the nickname Vicky!! My name is Victoria, and for so long people have called me Vicky. I always correct them and tell them to either call me Victoria or nothing at all. I do, however, have many nicknames: Vicko, Vic, Vixen, Vix, Vee. I've seen some pretty interesting nicknames that I would love to be called: Cori, Rory, Toree, Kiki, ToTo, and Tor-Tor are my favorites. My middle name is Linn so I hope all this helps.

I also really like Victoria and Elizabeth

I decided against using them because I don't like any of the shortened versions either and I do tend to shorten names.
We decided on Jade Elizabeth instead.
I think the trend now is to not shorten names though, so if you just say her name is Victoria I think thats what you'll get.
We actually signed a form in childcare stating what nicknames were allowed for our children(if any!) all very PC

My sister is a Victoria. No one really calls her Vicky as she hates it too. I think it's a beautiful name. Just correct people when they shorten it

All the Victorias I know are called Victoria - they range in ages from small children through to their 50s.
We have an Emily Victoria - love the name. I'm a fan of long middle names so might even go for something like Victoria Alexandra.
