Cataldos as well. I have only had my hair cut once since being in Canberra and that was about 4 months ago. It was a fantastic experience.

I go to Fuse, but it's also in the City... Sorry!

Hi

I am yet to find the perfect hairdresser but have found Cataldos good, and Shi (Kingston) was also really good. I have an appointment at Next, which has won lots of awards so I will see how that goes. I have also gone to Salon Suraci a few times (at Lanyon) just because it is close and a bit cheaper (though not a lot cheaper). I have seen some people reccomend the hairdresser at Erindale, but it was a particular stylist and I can't remember her name...maybe someone will post.

I go to Axis in the city and see Adam for cutting and Michelle for colouring, they are fantastic and I have tough hair to do well! I'm white blonde and it takes a legend to do it so it doesn't turn out yellow and these guys are the best.

Worst hairdresser was Next in braddon, my hair looked so revolting that I refused to pay. My sister in law had her hair dyed blonde at Salon Suraci in Lanyon and it was so bad that my husband had to go down there and speak to the owner (my sister in law is only 16).

I've been to Fuse in the city and they were pretty good but I keep going back to Axis because they rock.

Speaking of Next, Axis and Salon Suraci...

I used to go to Axis, years ago. My hairdresser there was fabulous. She left there and moved to Next, so I followed her there. Didn't really like the atmosphere (found it cold and unfriendly), but liked my hairdresser. She then moved away so I went to Salon Suraci who promptly died my blonde hair brown (on request) however didn't use any red in the colour and it went green!

So went back to Axis looking for a new hairdresser and found that the atmosphere there was not overly friendly... I didn't feel comfortable there.

I know someone who goes to a lady at Erindale too (can't remember the hairdresser's name though) and she is fantastic apparently. There's also The Hairdressing in James Court Apartments but it is super expensive.

OMG! I feel so out of the loop! My suggestion would have been JUST CUTS or the good ol' $8 barber at the Oconnor shops. Hee hee

okay, if you want cataldos on the southside, my hairdresser use to work there, she works from home in Conder, Linda's hair studio, shes great, hard to get into well you couldnt ring up tomorrow for a cut this weekend unless she had a cancellation, but the number is 6284 8601 and will do anything you ask and always come out feeling better, confident and love the cut/colour.

She is in James Smith Circuit Conder, she has half of her double garage decked out as a salon, and its much better than Salon Daycare(Suraci)! and you feel more comfortable there, what can I say I love Linda's!

I think I paid $25 for a cut, and thats not bad, have to be happy with that.

Good luck.

LOL, I had to laugh at "Salon Daycare" (Salon Suraci)..this is so true!! Im a hairdresser myself (in self imposed retirement) and i find this salon so unproffesional..i would love to get in there and teach them a thing or two, especially how to answer the phone. And i think very expensive for the service you receive...which is way below par. Having said that i dont have any reccomendations becaus ei have yet to find one im happy with...so different being a client.

As an ex hairdresser I go to Erindale Hair Centre inside erindale shops and can highly recommend them. I see Linda she only works four days per week. It is a great salon and not overpriced like others. If you want a great salon in the city i highly recommend Franco's - Ask for James (Jim), it is a family owned salon who travel the world teaching others and doing hair shows and as far as winning awards, they are one of the best in canberra.

I get my hair cut by Mark at Mest in Manuka, who's the owner. On the expensive side, but great small salon. They are great with Holly when I'm there -- changing the music to something more appealing to small ears, have no issues with me feeding her or changing her nappy. I've always been happy with the cuts I've got.

Hi Karen,

I usually go to "The hairdresser" at James Court apartment City. I'm freak out use other hairdressers cos if the cut my hair wrong, I'll look funny sad.gif . Her name is Gaby and yes, she is expensive. $82/cut include shampoo and blow dry. Although other hairdresser in the same place are cheaper. They have different levels and Gaby is the most wanted ones there. I use John Brennan at Woden before until the hairdresser left and I don't know where she is now. Good luck!!

HI There

I am another for Hair Credentials in Mawson. I have been going there for about a year now & they are all very good. Their pricing is also very reasonable compared to the hairdressers in the City. I think I pay about $50 for a shampoo, cut & blowdry/ or straighten.

They are fairly popular though. I usually have to wait a week or two. But they are worth the wait.

Cheers, Lilymurray

I have been going to Next for close to 10 years and find their atmosphere anything *but* cold and unwelcoming. I was however quite glad when my old stylist left in 2000 as she was into the grunge look and my hair was getting messier and messier with each cut. My new stylist Jason is fantastic and actually thinks about how *I* might like my hair to look, rather than doing something *he* thinks is trendy and cool.

I do think they could spend more time teaching some of the apprentices how to do decent head massages - sometimes it's like being bashed around the head with a limp fish...

I will say Cataldos too... Partly because they are friends of the family but they did my hair for my wedding and every time I go there the service is fantastic...

DH gets his hair cut there and it lasts much longer than anywhere else.
