What do you think of the name Mack?
Does it sound complete, or would you assume its a nickname?
We loved the name Jack but it seems to be so common these days.
Thanks!

I love the name Mack, I do think it's nickname-ish though, as in a shortened version of Mackenzie. Mackenzie seems to be quite a popular girls name these days otherwise I would seriously have considered it for this little boy, shortened to Mack.

I would assume it was a NN for Macaulay or something similar. But when u hear it in comparison with Jack it sounds like it could be fine on its own...

I like it as a nn. I know a Mackai- Mac for short.

It's ok for a boy as a nickname to Mackenzie. I don't like it on it's own.

To me, it sounds like a NN. What middle name have you got in mind and does it suit your surname??

I also think its to Nicknamish on its own but you could use Macklin as the long version.

Another possibility - Cormac with Mack as a nn.

I once meet a little Mack. Just Mack, not short for anyhting. He was gorgous (1 of a twin).
I like it. I wouldnt assume its short for anything.

First thing I think of: The Knife.
It's okay, but only as a nickname to Cormac. (I despise McSurnamesasfirstnames.)

It sounds like a NN of someone's surname, that would be my first thought.

I love it.
To me it's strong and short and perfect for a boy.
My husband is Matt otherwise I would have used it.
I think of Mack Trucks. don't like it short for something else, just like it Mack.

I thought of truck too. I think it sounds like a nn for a surname. I can see the poor kid being asked his whole life "What's that short for?".

I like Mack as a first name.
DH's uncles name is Mack, not short for anything...and hes a twin too! Dont think its the same twins, unless they live in Scotland DancingPrincesses!

I really like it, though I was reluctant to use it because of the truck thing and I preferred it without the K, but then I was worried about being associated with the "big mac." We then thought about having Mackie, but we just didn't love that enough.
Good luck.
