Or at least I hope to... watch this space!
I have put in a couple of offers for a house in north Belconnen, the last of which has not been refused. Eek! I could be a working single mamma home-owner business-owner before the month is out!
I promise to tell you more (like where!) as soon as I find out.
Oh, anyone know anything good or bad about Evatt Primary, Miles Franklin Primary or Mount Rodgers Community School? I need to know! LOL
Now I'm off to find the phone number of your mortgage broker Sue and Carol. LOL!

YAY!!!! Congratulations Alice i hope that the offer is accepted quickly for you. Schools Miles Franklin has an excellent reputation, never taught there so not really sure. Taught at Evatt primary a few years ago and suffice to say i wouldnt go back. Mount Rogers is really close to Sue so she should be able to tell you more.
Good luck with everything.

Yippee!!! I'm so happy for you both

Regarding schools I would rather talk to you about it. Way too much info to write down. I'm feeling lazy tonight.
So where is your new place? You will have just finished unpacking and now it's time to move again.
I vote for a house warming/GTG at Alice's new place.
When you are all settled of course!

Congrats Alice! DD is currently going to Melba Preschool, and we're really happy with it - fabulous teachers. It backs on to Mt Rogers school, and most of the kids will be going either there or St Monica's. Many of the preschool kids have older siblings already at Mt Rogers, so I figure the parents must be happy with it, but it's a very small school (which has +ve & -ve points). We're looking at either Miles Franklin or Kaleen Primary (because of particular programs) - Miles Franklin has been recommended to us by a number of people. Their open day is on June 1, in case you want to get in early and check it out!

Yay thanks for your support. The agent is stuffing me around, asking for a $1000 "holding deposit" before she's even given me the contract and paperwork. Not happy about that!
I've heard excellent things about Miles Franklin but it's 2km from the house I'm looking at. And my ex "teaches" at Evatt and has given me plenty of reports on that school. Ryan's not going there if I can help it!

Sue, I'll try to call you tonight, if I forget again, feel free to call me.

I'll PM you my new addy (to be).
Thanks again

Hi Alice - congrates!
re Miles Franklin - I went there as a child and ABSOLUTELY ADORED it! Of course it was quite a while ago, but even the school set-up was so fun, with the tunnels, playground etc. If I lived in Belco I would send my kids there.

alice, you should be given a copy of the contract and report to look at before you put in an offer!

Sorry to carry on..
I just handed over my deposit BUT the house is still going to be open for exhibition this weekend, both days and I can only go through it at that time. WTF???
AND the agent "forgot" to bring the contract and property reports AGAIN to our meeting at 1pm. This is more than suspicious behaviour. What is going on?
AND there was no official receipt for my deposit.
I hate Ind epend ent Property Group!

Thanks for letting me vent.

i HATE independent too. hmmmmm there must be someone you can call to find out what should be going on.
don't worry aobut the open house, that happened with us too and it was just because it's too late to pull it out of the paper.

I agree Karen but how and who? Reading this sales person's profile online it leads us to believe that she is VERY experienced and knows exactly what she's doing. Why then am I not getting the information I am asking for? (add: the agent just called to say she's faxing it all to me now - I hope so!)
BTW if you want to check out the house, feel free. It's open on both Saturday and Sunday. I'll PM the addy to anyne who wants it.

i probably won't have time to stickybeak but is it on allhomes? if so then pm me the addy

i can always call my agent and ask her the process if you like - i've done that a couple of times when other agents have been pressuring us (gosh there are some sleazy pushy agents out there!)

if it's the house i'm thinking it is (weird that independent don't advertise on allhomes) that's great@! remember the rental house that I told you about that we used to live in? same design! ours had a bit more work done to it though the one i'm looking at has had a bit too - great price

cold in the winter though, you might want to consider ducted heating unless it already has it. yay!

I emailled you, Karen. There's only one house for sale in Spence at the mo with the ind group so you can find it on their site. It's not on all homes.

Karen, I am pulling out - by email. I'm such a confrontational wuss!
There's a nicer house on my old street - a couple of doors up from Carol. I'm waiting to hear back from that agent so we can take another look through.
