DS 7 months seems to have gone of his milk and his solids over the past 48hours. Funny enough he slept all night in his own bed for the first time in months last night, but when he got up this morning he only drank 40mls. I thought that he would be starving as he had no bottle or dinner last night.
He doesnt appear to be sick and he has no temp and is active and happy.
Is this just a normal thing to happen at this age?

Hi Bec,
I somteimes found Aiden would go off his food and bottle when he was teething and then sometimes for no apparent reason. They are just like us, sometimes we are just not hungry. I try and make sure he has something and still has his fluids eg water. His appetite will probably come back with a vengeance.
Its your job to offer it and his to take it, that keeps me sane when Aiden wont eat much.

Yep sometimes they just do this. It could be a number of reasons.

If he has some teeth coming through this might have made his mouth abit tender and put him off his food/drink, my DS use to do this.

He might just feel abit "yuck". The colds are starting to get around now and even though he dosen't actually show any signs he might still just be feeling under the weather. When I feel yuck I don't tend to feel very hungry, same for my children.

Basically, in my opinion, if he gets hungry he will eat, so I wouldn't stress. As long as he is still pretty much happy, within himself, and his nappies are still wet.

If he starts getting really listless and no wet nappies then I would take him down to see a dr.

cheers

Alexandra

If u think he might have some pain from teeth coming u can try rubbing some gel on his gums 5min before you give him food or a bottle.

This has sometimes helped if DD got half way thru a meal and was being fussy.

But overall the other girls are right - if he is hungry he will eat. Are you BFing because refusing feeds can wreak havoc on your supply?

Mouth ulcers and a sore throat also put babies off their food and drink.

it's nott serious unless you notice a decline in wet nappies (like none all day). I found it handy to print off a list of dehydration symptoms and leave it stuck on my fridge, that way you're constantly reminded of what to look for, so you sort of relax. If that makes sense.

At 7 months old, your GP should always see your baby straight away if you're worried. It will not do any harm. Calling Healthfirst 6207 7777 is reassuring too. They once sent an ambulance to my house at 6am and I'm so glad that I had called them! (That was for a prolonged fever, not being off his food/drink).
