Title says it all.

What do you think of Odette, for a middle name specifically? First name we are keeping a secret, but it's 3 syllables, very similar in flow to Lucia (loo-see-ah pron.) Ok that makes it fairly easy to guess (please dont!) laughing2.gif

Argh the middle name is proving so difficult this time around, every time we *almost* decide on a name we go off it a little while later. wacko.gif laughing2.gif

Thanks,

Amanda original.gif

I love it, and I think I can guess the first name- if so they go lovely together too grin.gif .

Honestly, I love it! My DD has a barbie called "Princess Odette" and she's beautiful! wub.gif

Flows nicely with a 3 syllable name.

I think it's great as a middle name. I think I can guess the first name too. I really love Lucia pronounced Lou-see-ah though.
blueslipper
I like this name. Are you aware of this- ODETTE, Organisation for Data Exchange by Tele Transmission in Europe, a group that represents the interests of the automotive industry in Europe; equivalent of AIAG in America
Divine53
Am not too fond of it but it really depends on the 1st name.
MadamFrou-Frou
Love it.
JustLynn
I think it is fantastic. I would easily use it as a first name.
clumpy
Fab. Very, very nice and if the first name is what I suspect, it will be exquisite.

I love it wub.gif

If the first name is still the same as you had decided on before, then the only thing I could say, is that it has a repeating "o" sound that almost catches me up. It doesn't quite flow as well as say, Claudette, which I think you were once contemplating as a mn.

But, it's such a small thing, and out of the 5 or so times I said it in my head, it was only when I tried to say it out loud that I noticed.

Odette is a gorgeous name though, I'd use it anyway original.gif

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Odette. It reminds me of my grandmother, whose name was Viva Odetta wub.gif

Why use it for a middle name, it would make an excellent first name original.gif

Lovely. Just don't spell it Ohddette wink.gif

Lovely. Just don't spell it Ohddette

You could always go with Ohddeytte. The Y is silent. wink.gif

Oui oui. I LOVE it.

I can't remember what you were contemplating for a first name, but j'adore Odette.

Very very pretty.

Nice to see some lovely positive comments about a name!! dev (6).gif

Honestly........
idunno
I was thinking you should simplify it and go with Odet tongue.gif laughing2.gif

Seriously, I don't mind it as a middle name at all biggrin.gif
Lotus
Yeah... I s'pose it's an OK name, but TBH I prefer the spelling "Oh'Debt" - the "b" is silent. grin.gif

FWIW I also like the name "Odelia". wink.gif
Tombi
It's gorgeous! I would use it as a first name.
FunkyChooken
Against the grain here but it reminds me of the word odour

LMAO thanks for the replies everyone, oh and I just LOVE some of the spelling suggestions! dev (6).gif You know I thought we could throw a silent 'k' in there somewhere surely, or to be really uneek, how about a number! tongue.gif

No wait, I'm not supposed to be enjoying the replies...

OMG YOU ARE ALL BICHES! cry1.gif

Ok seriously now lol, thanks for the feedback. DH originally wanted Odessa, but it didnt really work as a middle name, and we had already decided on the first name (and I'm too stubborn to change it now lol) so I suggested Odette. Actually newkie, you do raise a good point, I knew there was something that sounded a little funny but couldnt put my finger on it. I'm not sure why but we went off Claudette, even though admittedly it does work better.

It's just so funny how difficult picking a middle name has been so far, most of what we have contemplated we have gone off or they just havent worked as well...

Josephine - the two 'f' sounds make it awkward
Francesca - Once again 2 'f's and also ending in 'a'
Claudette - Great flow but something about the 'Claw' sound makes it harsh
Grace - boring lol

And the list goes on... laughing2.gif

blueslipper, I actually did know that (after googling it a while back), but doesnt bother me, not exactly a business that it relevant here in Aus! wink.gif

ARGH, running out of time! tongue.gif

Amanda biggrin.gif

ps: clumpy, I only just realised that it was you with that sig, I'm so used to you not having one lol. Such a cutie..and I am secretly eyeing off that quilt she is lying on lol. tongue.gif

pps: argh, massive overuse of emoticons!
Lambie
I'm not sure what the first name is, but I actually prefer Odessa over Odette original.gif Odette is a little harsh sounding to me. but perhaps with your frist name and surname it's fine.
good luck!
