It's early days yet but DH mentioned that he likes the name Ashley for a girl. As he is very good at vetoing every name I suggest I thought I would see what other people think of this name.
Is it too masculine?
Does it look better spelt Ashleigh?
Thanks for your opinions.

I like it for a girl but prefer the spelling Ashleigh.
I never really think of it as a boys name.

I love Ashlee/Ashleigh for a girl

Although I think that spelt Ashley looks a bit to masculine.

Ashleigh is lovely

.
I know both a male & female Ashley/Ashleigh. Both gorgeous kids.

I only like the spelling Ashleigh for a girl. I dislike it for a boy but find Ashley to be the more masculine spelling.

Definitely a very feminine name. In fact.. I don't like it used for boys!
The spelling Ashleigh is probably the nicest and most feminine though...

i rarely associate the name Ashley with a boy. I love the name for a girl but would spell it Ashleigh. My female cousins name is Ashleigh

I had it on the list each time but could never convince dh. Adore Ashleigh!! (Managed to use a little of it by spelling Calleigh with the -eigh instead of -ie). Gorgeous name.
Good luck!

I'm a fan. We had it picked all along for DD #2 and are still happy with our choice. After delivery DH decided to hyphenate the names we had chosen so our beautiful daughter is Ashleigh-Maree.
Good luck.

At the risk of starting a riot about traditional spelling...
I love Ashlee

My DD's name is Ashley Jade. I like the "ley" spelling and obviously do not think it is too masculine for a girl or I wouldn't have called her it.
Good luck with your name picking!

I think "Ashley" is a very pretty girls name - and I actually prefer it to be used as a girls' name and not for a boy.
I like the spelling "Ashley" too - maybe find a very feminine middle name to go with it - any family names that you would like to use as a middle name??
Good luck deciding.

I have a niece named Ashlee Cate - love that spelling.

I think it's too feminine for a boy, and just right for a girl - definitely Ashley though. Ashleigh is horrible, and makes it much less feminine, I think.
I agree with elegie, I think Ashley is a bit girly for a boy. Lovely for a girl.

Obviously I like this name for a girl as thats what this bub will be named if the sonographer was right about the sex LOL!
I like it better as a girls name personally (although the first time I heard this name I was in primary school and it was the name of a boy in my class). I actually like it spelled both Ashley and Ashleigh but DP liked Ashley so we are going with that spelling
Good luck

Our babysitter is Ashlee and I hadn't seen it spelt that way before. But I love it now

I'm usually into traditional spelling of names but in this case I think it makes it very pretty.

It's one of the few names I appreciate on either gender, and have heard fairly equally on both.

I prefer to spell the female version "Ashleigh", but it is a lovely name either way

I think if I saw the name Ashley, I would think it was a Boy but Ashlee or Ashleigh - ok for a girl.

I like Ashley for a boy, not so much for a girl, but if you are going to use it, the spelling of Ashley is by far the nicest.
Good luck.
