A twin trolley rant!!!This makes me sooooo mad!!!! I went to do my shopping yesterday minus DS but with DD1 and DD2... I go to my local shopping centre ( Warnbro Fair WA) in the carpark trolley bay I spot them... 3 x twin trolleys!! Hooray!!! I think... I can actually put both babies in the trolley seats and I can fit all my shopping in trolley!! ( a months worth of groceries) I had one DD in the ergo and one in my arms all really for the single trolley experience.. Well! The trolleys were not only soaking wet due to rain (I can deal with that) but they were rusty, the straps were revolting, the trolleys were falling apart, and they were all stuck together!!!!!!! Man I wouldn't put my shopping in them let alone my children!!!!!!!
I ask you? Why?? All the other trolleys were ok??

Vent away, this was always one of my pet peeves. I actually asked my local supermarket manager to get at least 1 new twin trolley, some of them are disgraceful!!!!

We have never been able to get a twin trolley from our local Coles, they won't hold one for us either

Isn't it annoying.

I have 13 mnonth old twins so at least I can now put one in the baby seat and one in the trolley. However, they then both want to be where the ther one is sitting, the one in the trolley does not seem to understand, "sit down", "no, don't pull that off the shelf", etc.

If you are reading this and are expecting twins my advice is to have at least one car capusle so you can actually do grocery shopping when they are really little. That way you can out the capsule in the trolley and have one in a baby bjorn.

I did not have capsules, which meant I could only ever do shopping on the weekend when DH could mind the babies or if Mum came with me.

I am so with you on this one! I could never find a twin trolley anywhere and ended up buying one of the things that you strap to your front, to put one of mine in and the other went in the normal baby trolley.
Now that mine are 3yrs and we have moved to country Vic, I can't use the one and only twin toddler trolley as only one side has straps. The other is broken. I have to wait until there is somebody to come shopping with me, to push one in a stroller. As having a large family I can't put one in the trolley as I need the space for the shopping.

Next year should be better as I will be able to shop while they are at kinder.

But you would think that supermakets would cater for twins more as they are very common now. They want our money but won't help us by maintaining the trolleys that make shopping easier!

mmmmmmmm One of my pet hate subjects as well, how is it when you are juggling two babies and two toddlers, can't get a twin trolley for love nor money but walking through the shopping centre you see how many being pushed with one baby and a handbag ggggrrrrr it makes me mad

Anyway rant over I actually came in here to say that the coles where I shop (Rockingham City) has quite a good range of both the ones for toddlers and the baby ones but last time I was there there was none to be had and I ended up asking and the coles lady told me they had all been recalled and they were waiting on newer safer ones, thought this might be relevant to some people

We had a new supermarket open near our place a few years back and I was checking it out and had my twins with me. I was all set for the 1 in the seat and one in the trolley though luck had it there was 1 twin trolley avail with seats which I gladly grabbed, did my shopping etc. Then on my way out they had people asking What do you think of our new store, are there any improvements etc so I said more twin trolleys and the girl asked me nicely if I wanted to put it on a suggestion card with my contact details which I did. About a week or so letter I got a lovely letter from HO thanking me for my suggestion and enclosed a $15.00 gift voucher as well. I was stoked even more so that when I was there a few weeks later they had heaps of twin trolleys and they were all nice, new,clean and even steered.lol So put it in writing you never know you may end up with nothing get lucky and be rewarded like I was.

There are only a few twin trolleys at my local shopping centre. I have girls 17 months old now. I get so angry when I see mothers with one baby in a twin trolley and the other capsule holding their hand bags. I have to put one of my girls in the seat and the other in the trolley.They don't really cater for twin mums at all....

I'm not a twin mum so don't know your pain - but bad trolleys of ANY sort really annoys me!

Our local Coles recently purchased lots of new 'baby' trolleys. There were lovely clean capsules. Also several new twin trollies (both capsule and normal ones) they also purchased one twin trolley which had one capsule and one normal seat - Now there should be more of these trolleys around!

I agree - write to your local supermarket/shopping centre - it cannot hurt!

What is it with twin trolleys, or the lack of them should i say? Our local stores don't seem to have any, managed to get one once in Safeway, but not our local one. Also saw one a little while ago with someone using it who didn't have any children at all, they were using the seats to hold their handbag and shopping bag - well mad

We are from the UK and the supermarkets tend to have loads of twin trolleys, never had a prob finding one, all in good nick too. Why don't the supermarkets have them here? I see more twins here than i did in the UK so surely the need is greater?!

And my other gripe is that not being able to find a twin trolley it is essential to use the buggy with the shopping balanced on the top, but then there are only 1 or 2 checkouts you can go through because they are too small to wheel through! Aagghh

I feel for you. Most of my local supermarkets are truly pathetic with twin trolleys. Thankfully our Woolworths has twigged that if they have a good supply they will get more people shopping there so they now have 6 double seaters, 4 double babies and 3 baby and seater.

Local twin parents, and parents with young ones close together have lobbied the stores and finally one has started to listen. Send the manager a note, start a petition at playgroups or the baby health center for better quality trolleys

Oh abd according to my local "trolley guy" the double trolleys are very popular with youngster doing trolley racing and other horrible crimes against trolleydom
