You beat me to it Lynny

Bridie is a great nn for Bridget

I don't actually mind Bride for a nn either.
There is a thread about this not far back if you do a search.

i totally agree with you caterpillar. i don't like Bridget at all. i noticed on your sig that your boy is named lachlan....funny that is the name we have picked out if it is a boy.
i just wondered if Bridie would be abbreviated at all to Bri? i am also thinking we will probably spell it as Brydie

I think Bridie is a gorgeous name, and Brydie looks nice!
I don't like Bridget very much, wasn't aware that Bridie was a NN for Bridget. I thought Bridie was a stand-alone name on its own.
I don't think you would get too many NNs out of Bridie, as it ends with a "ie", IYKWIM?

I know it can be a nickname to Bridgette but I prefer Bridie on it's own.
For nicknames I think Birdie and Bird sound cute.

i like the name Bridie. I had a childhood friend named this, but it was spelt Briedy. Had I not known her it was a possibility myself.....

I think Bridie is lovely, not something I would have thought of, but I can see it growing on me. I think Bridget sounds harsh, and Bridie works well as a name on its own. Aussies will shorten/change any name, so you can be sure that as well as Bri, Bride, Brido, she would get all sorts of other nns.
Just wondering, why the Y? I don't get what it is about Ys in names these days.
Don't mind Bridie, but would use Bridget. I've always like Bridget though.
We called our dog Bridie(she is very cute!) and use Brides or B as her nickname
