We lit our heater for the first time yesterday, and the house smells of burning dust.

Last night I put blankets onto the kids' beds (under the doonas) because they were icy cold when they woke (EARLY!) the morning before.

I wore my thermals to work tonight.

It is hard to get out of bed of a morning.

What are your first signs of winter in your house? Have you had them yet this year.

We are starting to put Harley into Blanket Suits so that he doesn't get cold if he kicks off the blankets (won't need them next year).

The heaters have been on for almost a whole 4 days now and I mean all the heaters. The electric blankets are on our bed (H doesn't have one).

and yep, very hard to get out of bed at the moment.

Thanks

Erm we have had electric blankets on the bed for a couple of months now but flicked them on for the first time last night.

Drained the air conditioner and opened the vents for the heater.

Let out a small "squeal" when Zoe has her morning feed, COLD little hands lol original.gif

We've had the heating going first thing in the morning for the past week now ... makes getting out of bed a little easier.

Christopher is now in his little flannelette pj's (and looks so much like a little boy ... where's my baby gone? sad.gif)

The dogs have now been wearing their coats overnight (as they sleep outside). We gave in as they woke us a couple of times over the weekend whinging to come in where it is warm.

And finally, I seriously thought about putting all my summer clothes away.

That's it.

Cheers,
Helen.

Having to remember to bring laundry in by 4pm.

When the leaves on the tree on our nature strip go brown (it's one of those yuk trees where the leaves die but don't drop off until just before buds in spring).

The central heating is now on the timer (21 deg 7am-10pm and 17 deg overnight) and will probably remain so until the first hot weather in October.

The first rays of the sun come in the front windows instead of the back ones.

Not having to mow the lawn again until spring original.gif.

I dug out my natty old Uggies on the weekend and am
wearing them right now. They are sooooo warm. I promise
they will not go past the end of the driveway (I wear them to
the postbox ;p ).

Muppet - I'm with you - cold little hands touching my warm tummy and breasts!

We have the burning dust smell too Jo.

I make milk - whats your superpower?
~Sorceress~
We're challenging ourselves to keep the heater off as long as we can, but getting up to feed in the middle of the night is getting harder and harder! This might be the last night I can stand it!

Dressing gowns and slippers are looking so much more attractive now, and we all have hot water bottle in our beds!

Thomas, Peter and Isabelle's baby sister is now...

I had porridge for breakfast yesterday.
ckrmum
Yum porridge. I'll have to add that to the shopping list.

Another sign ... curries and casseroles are looking very attractive these days. And salads, not so (except Karen's one - can't get enough of that. wink.gif)

Cheers,
Helen.

DD and I have porridge for breakfast all the time summer and winter, tho I have introduced french toast about a month ago I really should get some Weetbix.

How about this one? Polypropylene thermals (the striped ones) become acceptable day wear (at least in our household LOL)!

I will admit to wearing my ugg boots to Duffy shops reasonably frequently and even a few times to Cooleman Court. I am such a dag!

I'm new to Canberra, so I haven't really experienced weather like this. I have had the blankets and doonas out since March. The mornings are FREEZING.... and when Xavvie comes in in the morning, his little hands are so cold!!!!
Tinka
Glad I'm not the only one wearing Uggies Steph.

We wear the stripey thermals here too! In fact, sometimes
they are not good enough, then I upgrade to my Damart
thermals. Now they are toasty, toasty WARM!

Ahhhhh Winter in the Nation's Capital.....they should give us
all a style award original.gif
