Hello ladies
Over the years I've noticed in friends' houses combined bookcases with a toy box underneath. Unfortunately I didn't think to enquire at the time whether they were any good, where to get them from and/or how much.
We're now in the process of moving our DD to a 'big girls room', and were thinking that one of these would be a good way to store all her books & toys without her climbing up the bookcase and having it topple over on her.
Can anyone shed any light on their experience with these (ie, can you fit much in the toybox?), where I can find one, and approx cost?
TIA for any help.

Pine shops sell them for about $300. We went looking last weekend for one. The shops in fyshwick sell them.

I can't help with ACT prices as we bought one for my DD just before we moved here. We got it at a pine warehouse and stained it cost us about $240 whilst most other places did have it about $300 plus. The only modification we made to ours is putting a slow drop mechanism on the toybox part so that DD doesn't get her fingers caught in it if she drops the lid down and we also put some additional rubber stuff around the edges so it doesn't 'bang' either. I really like it as it is great for putting all her big toys in the bottom and keeps her room looking neatish...

I got ours from The Whitewood Warehouse at Tuggeranong.
They have two designs, but the one I got has a gap between the lid and the front of the toybox to stop little fingers getting hurt. I can't remember how much we paid for it - I think it was around $300 stained, but that was 3 years ago.

I enquired about one just recently from someone who was selling a gorgeous one on the ACT all classifieds website. Don't know if she'd still have it, but it would be worth having a look on the site.
