It depends which pronunciation you are after
Loo - che - ah (Italian)
Loo - see - ah (Spanish)
Loo-shah (English)
Personally i like the italian pronounciation

Thanks guys. Its the fact that some may get it wrong that would really annoy me, but I think it is such a pretty name.

I think it is gorgeous

And people will only mispronounce it once.

TBH I think as long as you're prepared to be patient and correct a few people here and there, it shouldn't be a major issue.
"Lucia" is well-known as an Italian/Spanish form of the name "Lucy", so since I've personally been surrounded by loads of Italian friends/extended relos etc, I naturally pronounce it as such i.e. loo-CHEE-a.
However, AFAIK both the Spanish/Germanic pronunciation 'loo-SEE-a', and the English version 'LOO-sha' are also correct, so no ones really "wrong" iykwim.
Middle name ideas..
Lucia Elise
Lucia Camille
Lucia Ivy
Lucia Belle
Lucia Frances
Lucia Pearl
Lucia Annabel
Lucia Hazel
Lucia Bridget
Lucia Evelyn
Lucia Molly

Hi megmog,
Our DS is Reilly after my paternal grandmother. Her maiden name is O'Reilly and she married Mr Smith and had three boys so we thought that it would be nice to have her name in a future generation. That said, people would pronounce it, "really"! I mean seriously, would I call my baby "really". Mind you they only did it once!!
Stick to your guns, use it if you love it and no matter what you call your beautiful baby, someone will always pronounce it wrong!!
Me - 30
DH - 31
DD - Chloe Elizabeth - 4 (8/11/03)
DS - Reilly William Annan - 2 (1/8/05)
TTC#3 - NOW!!!

I love that name and if I had another daughter it would be Lucia! I would pronounce it the Italian way as my husband is Italian. It goes with many good middle names but my favs are:
* Lucia Charlotte
* Lucia Elizabeth
* Lucia Grace
Good Luck! I

the name Lucia!

This is one of my all time favourite girls names but we didnt choose it purely because I didnt want to keep correcting people. I say 'loo see ah' and could have dealt with 'Loo Chee a' but absolutely hate loosha.

As far as I know there are three correct pronunciations so pronouncing it one of the other ways is not "getting it wrong".
I always use the Italian way first but am aware there are other ways to say it.

I love the name Lucia! It was my first dolls name!

Pronounced Loo-CHE-A Italian.
I couldn't use it bc I'd be constantly correcting the way it was said.

I agree so much with this, it is the one and only thing that puts me off using it.
I just adore Lucia, i really hope to use it one day!

I would pronouce it Loo-see-ah and it reminds me of Lucias Malfoy on the Harry Potter movies/books.
