Hi Everyone,
Could I please have your opinion on our names.
For a girl we have chosen Sophie. I have loved this for years but it's so popular. What are your thoughts on using such a popular name? I know it's ultimately up to us but it's the only things that turns me off using the name.
For a boy we can't decide between these two:
Lincoln James
Max Raymond
Which one do you think and why?
Thanks so much for your help.

I think I like Lincoln James better... but i LOVE the name James! max is also cute. Not so sure about Raymond, but if it a family name as a middle name that is different.
Linc is a nice nickname... or LJ...??
Sophie is lovely... how common is it...?? Have you looked on the births, deaths and marriages website for your state. If you love the name use it I think!
Hope that helps.. Good luck!

I prefer Lincoln James.
I don't mind the name Sophie but I can't handle using a name that is really really common (this is just me though). If it is a name that you love though, I would use it regardless.
Good luck.

I also love the name Sophie. I think if you really love it, then use it. I have a popular name (Sarah) and I never had any problems at school with being one of a bunch of Sarah's in the class.
Lincoln James gets my vote out of the two, because I don't like Raymond at all. I actually prefer Max Lincoln, because Max is my fave name out of the four!

I love Sophie. If it hadn't sounded silly with our surname it would have been on our lists.
I much prefer Max to Lincoln. I may be biased as it's my lovely Dad's name. But I don't understand the appeal of the name Lincoln. For a start it sounds like a surname to me, which is a strike for me. Added to that I think it may have been given as a first name in America to honour that president, so doesn't make that much sense to me for an Australian boy. Also, it has that yucky car name thing going on.
I'll admit, I'm not a huge fan of Raymond as a mn though, unless it's to honour a family member.

I love Sophie and would use it regardless of it's popularity. From your boy's names Lincoln James wins by far.

I love the name Sophie (worked with a littlie called Sophie and she was wonderful) and I love Lincoln too, very strong but lovely baby, boy and man's name.
What would Sophie's mn be?
Good Luck with it all

I

Sophie, it was definitely on my girl list. Of your boys names, to be totally honest neither are my style (except for the James) but out of Lincoln and Max I would choose Lincoln.

Sophie is my DD2's name, I love it. Even though it is very popular, we have only come across 1 other Sophie in 2 years of day care and swimming lessons - maybe it depends where you live. My Soapy

was named after a lovely place in the faraway Kimberley.
I like James better than Lincoln, how about James Lincoln?
