OMG i just finished it - read about 20 pages last night and the rest tonight, i couldn't put it down. at first i thought it was a bit of a ripoff of another well known book / movie but then i got sucked in when the story changed direction a little...
aagh i hate inconsistent writers though (phillipa gregory is the other culprit) - i hated the last book of JP's i read - 10th circle or whatever it was called. i only bought this one cause it was cheap at borders lol
but it's my pick for best book since i read the time traveller's wife...
what did you all think of it?

I've been eyeing this book in the shop and haven't bought it because, like you, I was disappointed with the last one of hers I read. The plot sounds a bit far fetched (even for me lol)but I might just give it a go.
Will buy it today and should have it finished in the next week. Will be back to let you know what I thought.
Cheers,
Marissa

I finished it a little while ago and loved it also. At first I am with you and I thought it was a rip off (Green Mile) but I also couldn't put it down. probably the best Jodi book I have read thus far.
I am reading it ... going well so far, but I just cannot get the time to sit and read it! Dastardly children, domestic duties, work and university getting in the way (maybe if I give myself an EB ban it will free up some time).
Off now to pick it up for half an hour.

Jo, when (if

) you finish it, let me know what you think. I vowed never to read another of her books after the struggling through Mercy, but I could be persuaded if someone I trust gives it a thumbs up

Just finished it, loved it. Caused me to buy the tenth circle and songs of a humpback whale!
Actually I bought it after loving 19 minutes that I read the day before!
So I've bought four books in a week!
But I thought it was excellent, only had a slight issue keeping the characters straight!

I havent read it yet. The last book of hers was Plain Truth and I found that I needed a break from her writing. I have 19 mins and My sisters Keeper but havent read them yet.

I haven't even seen it yet! I've looked in Kmart so many times but they don't have it and I haven't had time to go to any other stores. (We only have Kmart here)
I finished it - it was good! Better than the Tenth Circle and Road to Paradise that is for sure. A touch of My Sister's Keeper about it.
I would read it again. Mubs, PM me an address and I will send it over when DP finishes it.

I read THE PACT and loved it so decided to read her books from the first through to the latest. I read Songs of the Humback whale and really struggled through it, then Harvesting the Heart, that was pretty good. Am currently reading Picture Perfect and it's pretty good so far. I cannot wait to get to My Sister's Keeper, everybody raves about it!

I love her books!!
This time last year I bought and read about 9 of her books right after each other. They do have very similar storylines in a few of them, but definitely My Sisters keeper is a stndout, and The Pact and Plain truth are great as well.
Maybe I will get Change of heart for Mothers Day!!
All who have not read my Sisters Keeper - be sure to have the Kleenex with you at the end - sob sob

I have just finished reading it. I thought it was good but dragged on a bit. Story line seemed a bit far-fetched for me.
I have read all of Picoluts books and My Sister's Keeper is certainly in my top 10 of all time fave books. The Pact and Plain Truth were also excellent!

This was definately Jodi Picoults best book, perhaps even better than my sisters keeper. I found the ending to be the most eventful and exciting of all her books, i never wanted to put it down. I just feel the need to discuss it with someone this is absoulutly without a doubt one of the best book ive ever read!
Also did anyone read Keeping Faith?
i found it a bit boring at times and didnt end up finishing.
I have no yet read the pact and will start tonight:)

You know I have read all of JPs books but I didn't enjoy this one as much. Found it far fetched and not dissimilar to two of her previous books Keeping Faith and My sisters keeper. It seemed to be less original than others I felt like it seemed like I had read something very similar before. Saying that I still found it hard to put down but I didn't get the usual thrill.

I'm glad to hear others thought the same about the similarities between this book and The Green Mile. Have any reviews mentioned it at all? Thought someone would be kicking up a stink about it.
I thought Change of Heart, was worth the read, but I wouldn't rave about it. Then I'm not Jodi's biggest fan. I always feel like she just doesn't finish off her books all that well.

I just heard her speaking on the radio at a literary event about Change of Heart, it sounds interesting. But when she was reading out bits of it, I immediately made the link with The Green Mile.
