So, we started tossing about a few names.
DH threw out Joshua and Isaiah - I liked them, but just checked the meaning and they both mean "[Jewish God] is salvation" - given we are not Jewish, don't think I could use the names because the meaning is not culturally appropriate for us.
Previously I wanted something that wasn't overly popular, but have completely thrown that out of the window as a criteria now, as Ethan and Xavier were not that popular when we chose them, but they are everywhere now.
Kynan also looks like it is going to become popular - I think I saw 2 people recently in here that had it on their boy name list!
So, thoughts on our possibles please? These are ones that DH has not immediatel crossed off, although he is not 100% sold either.
Possibles:
Henry (home ruler) - I particularly adore the Gaelic versions I found of Henry: Anrai and Einri (just finding it hard to track down proper pronunciation) but think they may just be a little too unusual.
Gregory (watchful and alert)
Conall (strong as a wolf) - quite like this, don't think it is as popular as Connor. But not sure about having two boys names that start with "K" sounds - not sure it will flow very well when yelling all the names at once.
Antony
Gareth (gentle) - quite like this for some reason, although I would have thought it wouldn't be my style. But not sure about repetition in repeating the "th" sound between boy's names. Although probably would be using nickname Garry when little.
Names that I truly adore but have been crossed off the list:
Matteo (nephew is called Mattias - too close for us)
Arthur/Artur/Artair/Arturo - DH had a grandad with this name. I like the name variants without the "th" sound best, but Artur and Artair immediately make me think of a comedy skit showing soap opera sisters called "Utter Stupidity", "Rampant Stupidity" etc. So don't think I could use them
Anything with an "S" of "D" sound on the end don't work with our name. Generally neither do names with a harsher sounding ending like "K" or "T".
