This week Jacqueline Lunn asks, are you finding sneaky growths of hair that never used to exist as you get older?

QUOTE
Changes in hair patterns are a definite calling card from the Department of Ageing and Sensible Pyjamas. Men start getting back hair, ear hair, nose hair and knuckle hair. Women start getting sneaky hair that by its duplicitous nature – I have heard these cunning hairs wear black berets and speak with French accents – is hard to combat and control.
A friend went to have a facial recently. She was happily chatting away to the beautician about oily T-zones when a tissue came out and was held below her top lip…..

I laughed when I read the article over lunch today - and wondered when you will write about 'the moment' - because - hate to tell you - it comes later. At first you have a couple of experiences like the one you described.....then there is a sort of respite period....which you attribute to slow re-growth because you plucked the offending hairs out....and you may see a few stragglers from time to time.....and then one day....brace yourself for this....you look at your face in the mirror WITH YOUR GLASSES ON AND IN SUNLIGHT....and discover practically a beard....and then you have THE MOMENT.....which is the moment you realise the answer to a question that has always been your mind: 'why don't older women pluck out their ugly chin hairs?' Suddenly you know the answer! It is that synonymous with the appearance of these hairs is also deterioration of eyesight.....so those poor women don't attend to this rougue growth...BECAUSE THEY CAN'T SEE IT!!!!!
Peace and vision to us all.

All jokes aside, it is one of the most embarrasing things I have to deal with on a daily basis... I have tried everything to get rid of my chin hair..I simply refuse to let it grow long enough for waxing. and its just not right for a woman to have to shave everyday to still feel like a woman!! cry1.gif

I'm a teacher of 6 yr olds and I'm usually conscious of the forest on my face, but there is nothing so subtle as a child asking why you have a mo like their father. It is always a battle that will frustrate women for many years to come.
