I picked up the enrolment forms for Matthew and Erin for preschool today ... It was one of those moments, you know the "where have my babies gone?" moments? It is still almost a year away, but I cannot believe it!

I am also pretty impressed that preschool here in the ACT is FREE! The local preschool have a voluntary contribution of $50 per term. I remember reading a thread somewhere here on EB once about preschool costs and in some areas it was ridiculous, so I expected it to be similar here.

Oh, and this afternoon I saw Harley ... he looked so ... sad. Poor little tacker.

Oh, and now I am going to have a vent as well ... breaking local news on the TV just now "a navy chaplain counselling the families of those lost in the Sea King helicopter crash states it may take them years to recover" ... sorry, but NO S&#$ SHERLOCK?????? Breaking news? In fact, I would not expect them to ever fully "recover". My sincere sympathies to those families. The media can be dills sometimes.

I am with you, I sent off the enrolment forms for Gabby a couple of weeks ago and we received a notice a few days ago to say she has been registered. I am so excited but also a bit sad that my little girl is growing up. I wasn't aware that preschool was free that is fantastic, I was wondering how much it was going to cost but I had forgotten to ask, thanks for that info.

Regards,

Nic

Can I just remind people that while the fees for preschool are voluntary, without the contribution of these fees by parents your preschool may not be able to fund many things such as art equipment and play equipment. If you don't pay it, schools and preschools simply don't get that money at all.

Oh, I FULLY intend to pay the full voluntary fee for both of my kids. I was just amazed that there is no set fee, and to be honest surprised that the "suggested" voluntary fee at my local preschool is only that much. As I said, I was just expecting it to be more based on a previous EB discussion I had read ...

Maddie currently goes to preschool 2 full day a week in NSW and it costs $21/day.
When she begins big-school next year it will be in ACT and will only be a voluntary fee as well. So it is actually costing me more to send her to pre-school. But I love the pre-school and so does she, which is the main thing I suppose.
But aren't I looking forward to 5 days/week freedom.

Alex,
Probably!!! But school days seem to go buy soooo quickly. You drop them off and in no time it's time to pick them up. Oh well, such is life!

Yep Monique is off to Pre-School next year and I got home today to have her forms here for me to fill in.
Monique will be going to Ngunnawal and there fees are $200 per year as well. I can't wait as I am thinking about sending her to Maddison's pre-school 2 days a week for the rest of the year.

I remember when Mathew, Erin and Monique were just crawling. I can't believe how grown up they all are now.

The childcare centre that H goes to runs the preschool year there as well so Harley will go straight from there to school (providing we are still in Canberra).

Thanks
