Hi All
DH and I have been stuck on one girls name, Ella, since before we became pregnant.
With middle names our rule is that we can only name after someone if that name is from both our families, so one side isn't favoured. DH mother's middle name is Mary, and my grandmother's (my mum's mum) name is Mary, which is why we have choosen Mary.
But does Ella Mary sound OK?
Thanks.

depends if your last name has two cylabols (i know that's not spelt right) it sounds nice, but it could be too rhythmic. ella mary **. maybe you could change to maryanne ella maryanne **.
even if your last name does have two of that word i can't spell, it still sounds nice and if you lover that name and it works for all your rules, just use it!!!
good luck!!

Yes I think it sounds nice together I'd go with it especially since you have special reasons to use the names.

I think it sounds lovely - although I may be a bit biased. Mary is also a family name for us, its my middle name, my mum's and now my daughter's - it goes right back through our family tree to Olde England!
Ella Mary sounds quite similar to my mother's name: H*l*n Mary, and she has a two syllable (?) surname. Mine has the same rhyme too.
I say go for it - I too think its special to use family names x

Thanks for making me feel better, I had started to think it sound odd.
I should have said our surname is a simple, one syllable (how do you spell that word?) name which starts with K.

I think it's lovely, plus my DD is an Ella so I

that name. My Mil and GMil were both Mary (GMil known as Molly), but I never really contemplated it as a MN. I think it does work well though.
