DS will turn 4 next year so I need to start thinking about preschools but I don't know how to choose one! I probably wont be sending him until 2010 anyway but want to keep our options open.

I have rung around a preschools and have been told to just choose the primary school I want to send him to and then enrol him in the attached preschool. The problem is I wouldn't have a clue which primary school to send him to!! And the information sessions for the schools aren't until well after enrolments for preschool open.

Does anyone have any feedback on preschools in the Tuggeranong area, particularly Monash, Fadden or Calwell?? I would greatly appreciate any feedback/advice you could offer. Thanks.

We're happy with Fadden so far original.gif Last year they ran a playgroup in the afternoons one day a week, so a few of the children knew each other, and the setup before the year started (but not us.)

Primarily, we chose the preschool on proximity to where we live. We expect to send our children to the closest public school, provided it has a reasonable reputation, so this was the obvious choice for us.

I have had children attend 3 different pre-schools: Mt Neighbour, Chisholm and Calwell - and Calwell is most definately my favourite out of them. My son was very happy there last year, and his teachers were fantastic. If I had another child going through pre-school I would not hesitate to enroll them in Calwell pre-school.

I have heard really good things about Fadden - both preschool and primary - from friends who have/had kids there.

Hi

Both of my boys are at Monash Primary and I think its a good school and the boys enjoy going there. It is the same with the preschool. The Principal and deputy Principal are very active within both of the schools and from what I experienced last week problems are dealt with straight away.

All I can suggest is that if you are out of area enrol now because it is first in best dressed for out of area people. Kindergarten is at full capacity this year.

I have heard that Calwell preschool is good but I haven't heard much about the primary.

My DD went to Fadden a few years ago, and DS will go there next year. DD goes to Holy Family at Gowrie now.

We loved the preschool at Fadden - it was FANTASTIC. It was also closely affiliated to the primary school, but is also a feeder for Holy Family, depending on which way you go original.gif

Hia,

Currently DD is in preschool at Monash, she LOVES it!
They have a great old time singing and playing, craft and make believe is on the top of the list and she cant wait for preschool day . They also have a great shaded play area.

Its also very likely she will follow on at monash primary. Parking is shocking, they only have about 8 free actual parks at pick up time, and this car park also services the primary. Just FYI.

Good luck with whatever decision you choose.

Thank you all for your replies! I don't know many people with school age children so it is hard to hear the word of mouth stuff.

I can't believe my baby is growing up so quickly!
