Hi
I want to make an album for my son who was born in 2003. I would like to include a list of Australian/world events, entertainment news ie movies and songs from that year as well as cost of things such as loaf of bread, milk, newspaper, petrol, etc? It's a shame I didn't think to note these things down when he was born!!! Some information I have found on the web. I was just wondering if anyone has some information from 2003 to help me fill in the gaps. Many thanks in advance for your help.

January 18: Bushfires begin raging in various parts of the country. Blazes burn on a number of fire fronts across the ACT, Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Tasmania destroy homes and livestock. Hundreds of people evacuate alpine towns in Victoria and NSW. On January 18-21 bushfires in Canberra claim four lives and destroy more than 100 homes and most of the historic Mount Stromlo observatory and telescope.

Except it was actually more than 500 homes and 250 of them and all four deaths were in my suburb! Canberra bushfires on Wikipedia

I distinctly remember the Wallabies losing the world cup to England that year.

USA sent troops into Iraq.

From Wikipedia

The 2003 invasion of Iraq, from March 20 to May 1, 2003, was led by the United States, backed by British forces and smaller contingents from Australia, Poland and Denmark. A number of other countries were involved in its aftermath. The invasion launched the Iraq War, which is ongoing.

My DD was born on 22 March so I remember it well as it upset me so much that this was the world I was bringing her into.

Milk is still around $2.40 a litre, $ Bread is the same if not cheaper, and our newspaper is still the same.
Pretty good really considering how much the petrol has gone up.

My daughter was born in 2003. Enjoying all these things.

I disagree.
I pay approx $4 for 2 litres of milk, the same goes for a loaf of bread.
If you find these are the same or cheaper where you are-then I'm coming to live with you! biggrin.gif

Oh wow, what a good idea my DS was born in November 2003 and I hadn't thought to write some of these things in his baby book.As a PP mentioned the wallabies did lose the world cup to England my DS was born in England when the game was on, so DH kept popping down to look at the TV to see the game and as he is a pom he was very excited!!!!

Well I was at the pub watching the game and I was very excited too.. Until Johnny Wilkinson ruined everything for us at the last minute.

Damn him!

Where do you live ?
It is not $4 anywhere here in Perth, and was even cheaper when I was in brissy last year, if I spent $2 a litre on the 30 litres a week I go through, I would be long broke.
Unless you are buying gourmet milk.

This is going to sound really dumb but...What's 'gourmet' milk? blush.gif we're in Adelaide original.gif
Just came back from the shop and for dairy farmers full cream it is $3.60. For Pura light start it is $4.16.

I wonder if there is a price difference between states?
I'm genuinely interested to know...
Sorry OP! talk about a hijack eh! blush.gif
donthavetv
Maybe ? I might start a Misc topic and ask everyone.
sorry OP...
