We are having big problems with moving DD1 to a bed. (She is 22 months but I think her maturity is more like that of a 2+ year old, so I'm gatecrashing this area biggrin.gif )

I'm thinking perhaps we could implement a reward chart for her not getting out of bed. Has anyone else done this? Is she too young to get the concept do you think? Any advice very welcome!

i dont think shes to young, I did a reward chart for my DD when she was 2 but maturity level was alot younger, good luck with it original.gif She may not understand to begin with but after a couple times she should original.gif

Maybe you could modify a reward chart - so instead of saying "when you get 5 stars...."

it could be something like "when the stars reach the moon" (and make is so that 5 stars will reach the moon), or something similar.

I think that this would work better with my DS.

Does that make sense at all????

we've used a (home made) reward chart for max for a couple of months now (since he was just over 2 years old), to motivate / reward / encourage TT... but we've extended this to include other random things like excellent efforts in eating new foods.

the system is 5 stickers = reward. the rewards are small things like a sheet of 'fancy schmancy' stickers, or a bananas in pyjamas single use bubble bath....

the system itself works well, max understands the concept of putting the stickers on the chart, and when a row is complete, he gets a reward.... the only 'issue' lies in the fact that he's simply quite happy in his nappy right now... rolleyes.gif

With my dds I found that at that age a traditional reward chart didn't work. When I say "traditional" I mean 5-10 stars then a reward etc.

What did work very well though, was doing a big poster with their name all colourful etc in the centre which they help to decorate etc. Then we the desired behaviour is achieved getting a sticker which can be put anywhere randomly on the poster. They absolutely loved this and it did help to motivate with tt etc.

Good luck
