I'm going to start scrapbooking and i was wondering if anyone could tell me where the best/cheapest place to go to get the beginners stuff ( craft mat, scissors, trimmer etc ) or are they all roughly the same price where ever i would go?
ETA ~ I'm in Morley but don't mind a bit of a drive if it's worth it!

Ellenbrook has a really good scrapbooking place for albums and paper, and then I just buy my stickers from the two buck shop or red dot anywhere, most of them cater for scrapbooking now, as long as they say acid free your laughing...also Kmart is now stocking a lot of the more expensive embellishments, what you would pay $8.95 for at the scrapbooking suppliers you can can often get in kmart for around 4.95 so it is worth it if you are buying up in a big way, they also store all the fiskars tools a lot cheaper...I just keep my eye out wherever I am and pick up stickers etc when i see them rather than going out looking specifially for a certain thing, that is really shocking cause then I can never find what I am looking for. I have also bought quite a few embellishments on ebay...they have a few really good stored on there that do two for one packages etc...hope this helps :-)

Memories made with Love in Perth

Best prices I have seen anywhere and value for money loyalty program. If she hasn't got it, she will get it in and she sells at less than retail prices so all the usual items are cheaper here than anywhere else.
Good luck

Big W has a great selection, nice and cheap. Great paper packs.
Collins Craft in Balcatta is good too, but the ultimate store is Inksquisite. Only go there though if you are prepared to part with a whole lot of money!!
Check out Ebay too......

There is also Scrapbooks from the Heart in Canningvale on Bannister Road. I tend to go here as it's close to me. I really think most places are pretty much the same price. What you might save on one item you might pay a bit more for another IYKWIM? The one in Maddington, Scrapbook Secrets on Attfield Street is not open on Saturday's, but is open Sunday's.

I know a lady that can come to your home with card making and scrapbooking supplies. It's a party plan thing like tupperware but with craft supplies. They also do SB workshops.

There's a shop in Freo that is having a big relocation sale. It's in a little arcade that runs off the mall.

Hi Angie
Scrapbooks from the Heart is cool but a great online shop is www.chookscraps.com.au. This is a great online shop and very reasonable - sometimes cheaper than other stores! And if you want something in particular, they will get it in for you. The other great thing is that you can subscribe to scrap packs where they put together a pack with cardstock, coordinating papers, coordinating ribbon and embellishments for $14.95 per month - great value!! They also have a forum like EB and do cybercrops, competitions, hints and tips etc which is great if you're like me - a beginner and not near a scrapping shop (I live in country WA). Anyway - have a look and happy scrapping!

Others might disagree with me but my suggestions for anyone starting scrapbooking would be to:
* Go along to one of the dedicated scrap shops and attend one of their beginners classes. I know scrapbooks from the heart in Canning Vale used to do a free info class..not sure if they are still free. Have a good look around and decide what style you are into and get all the ideas from the scrap shops.
* Dont jump in before you know its for you as a beginners kit can be really expensive and you might not even end up using half the items you buy. I went out and bought all these tools, embellishments, papers, etc at the beginning and found that I still havent used half of them. I find I like to match my photo to papers, embellishments, etc rather than vice versa...
* Once you have had a taste and know what style suits you..then go and buy bits from the cheaper stores...eg Kmart, BigW, etc
* I LOVE doing the classes...they may seem expensive but its great to get everything all in your pack and come home at the end of the night with a layout to be proud of...
* Get ideas from the millions of sights where people post their works of art...eg
www.twopeasinabucket.com
* Get addicted and HAVE FUN!!!!!
