I thought I was going to be one of the lucky one's who didn't suffer too badly from morning sickness. That is until this week.....

It is now Wednesday and I haven't been able to keep a breakfast down all week! I feel OK when I wake up but as soon as I eat anything up it comes...

I feel ordinary all day until I sleep again at night, although I haven't been sick (TMI) during the day yet (quick, touch something wooden!!!).

I am 7.5 weeks. Does anybody have any suggestions or remedies??

Thanks
Kaypea

Hi there Kaypea,

hugs to you chickie for the m/s.
I feel like a bit of a fraud replying as I didn't really get any m/s. But I did feel queasy in the first trimester. The only thing that I was really happy with eating was tin spaghetti.
But it is all a personal thing....m/s works in weird and (no so) wonderful ways. So what works for one person might not work for another. The key is, finding something that works for you.....some suggestions:
-dry ginger ale/ginger beer/ginger tea
-fruit tingles
-dry toast (or with butter)
-frosty fruit icy poles or lemonade ones
-sea sickness wrist bands (not to be taken internally tongue.gif )

I found that if I craved something I would eat it. I often found that eating smaller amounts more frequently would get rid of the queasy feeling.

Just some suggestions, hope you get some relief soon!

Hi Kaypea,

Everyone is different but I found that avoiding dairy products until I felt ok worked for me. I can't remember exactly what I used to eat if anything first up.

I have heard Apples are good for MS.

Good luck hope you feel better soon.

I would eat something *before* getting out of bed. I was soooo sick of crackers by about week 10 but it seemed to work, that and eating lots of small meals. I found a bag of mixed dried fruit in the supermarket and that worked a treat, I constantly nibbled on that during the day. The other thing that worked for me was potatoes: mashed, fried as wedges didn't matter how I had them they worked a treat everytime.

Hi Kaypea

I myself have not had any morning sickness but Ive heard smaller meals, dry biscuits and not getting up to quickly or lying down immediately after food can all help.

Good Luck

Unless you throw up all the time B)

I had ms from day one to the end. Some things I found helped were
small meals often (if you get hungry it's worse)
carbohydrates but not greasy ones
fruit tingles
ginger beer
coke
bottled water (no flavour).

If you find you are being sick regularly keep water around and when you feel naseus drink some. It means there is at leat something in your stomach to throw up and it dilutes what's there so the acid doesn't burn your throat as much (sorry if tmi). I always had a bottle of water in the bathroom.

Medical options are available like maxolon but only work if you can keep them down. If you are really bad they can put a drip in. If they do ask for the maxalon also to be put in via drip. Once it's in your system it's easier to keep the other ones down. It gives you a few days vomit free.

Hope your feeling better soon and it does stop eventually (says me who's still thrown up a few times post birth as the hormones start to return to normal <_< )

Edited to add: I found up &go drinks the best for breakfast.

ditto everyone else's advice.
I always get bad m/s and to me it feels exactly the same as bad sea sickness.
Strangely enough - the remedy I use for that seems to work okay for m/s - ie chewing on ice cubes! Sounds crazy but really helped me feel a tiny bit more human.

i have had to stay away from meat and swap cereals all the time. cheezels go down well but sometimes they just dont stay down lol. there isnt much u can do but the 2nd u start feeling queezy stop eating and rest heaps if possible. ive heard some women say seabands are great but if its really bad maybe talk to ur dr about getting something to help.

I am 5 1/2 weeks and have been getting morning sickness when I wake up, getting ready in the morning and again in the evenings. I find that apple juice helps me and yoghurt. I am constantly starving at night and eat ALL the stinking time but only fluids and crackers seem to sooth the m/s
Kaypea
Thanks everyone.

I think that I'll try eating before I get out of bed but I'm a bit like Lyra - soooooooooo sick of crackers already!!

Fruit tingles sound like a good idea - might have to go an invest in some of those!

Keep those ideas coming! I may still need them!

If you're taking prenatal vitamins, take them at night with dinner. I was taking mine in the morning and by the afternoon felt so nauseous I couldn't eat dinner. Taking them at night instead fixed it.

Also ginger beer - one sip and it went away!

Hope you find something that works for you original.gif
