Hi

My 21mth old had his last feed yesterday. How long until my boobs return to whatever size they are going to go to. They aren't huge now, but I don't want to go and buy new bra (can't wait to have pretty ones again LOL) and find they are too big in a few weeks.

Any suggestions on how long I should wait?

Cheers

Mum, do I really have to mow the lawn?

When i weaned DD3 at about 2 years old it took around a month to a month and a half for them to lose the milk properly. I fell pregnant not long after so they sort of did there own thing. It takes awhile once they lose the fullness from the milk to lay back down the fatty tissue and get some shape back. Mine started to return to a pre baby state about 6 months after i weaned DD2. So don't stress out when they look a bit sad once the milk dries up! I would wait until about a month after and then buy a bra in the size you are then.

Yes, I think from memory it took about 6 weeks (but that was with a few battles with mastitis - do be very very careful - I banged my breast about 3 days after weaning and got into a world of trouble sad.gif). Take care of yourself (and that whole area, lol) over the next few days and watch for any lumps/engorgement etc.
And, most of all, have fun buying loads of pretty new SUPPORTIVE bras, lol..

If you want to hurry the process along, cold and flu tablets will dry you out. wink.gif

It probably depends on how slowly he weaned. Ella was on only one morning feed for a full month before she stopped altogether, so my boobs had adjusted really well already. I had a tiny bit of lumpiness under my breasts for 3 days, that I onlt noticed when I lifted my arms above my head.
And my boobs looked sad and droopy in comparison to the milky lush things they were before! So I bought some gorgeous red lacy things with a bit of oomph.
Felt better for a while then.

Thanks for the advice everyone. It has been a pretty slow process so hopefully I shouldn't have to many dramas!

I told dh today he better get me pregnant real quick if he wants to save money on bras! wink.gif
