Hi All

DS has been toilet training for the last 5 weeks. 99% of the time he's great and does his wees in the toilet, absolutely no success with poos yet.

Anyway, we are going away camping over Easter and have a 4.5 hour drive to get there. I plan on asking DS if he needs to go to the toilet often, unfortunately his usual response is "No wee wees" and then taking himself off to the loo 10 minutes later.

Any ideas other than pre-empting and stopping at every single toilet stop until he wees???

Thanks

the other idea is to go before you leave home , then make a food stop somewhere and say we have to go now and 'try' to do wees as we are hopping back in the car again and there wont be a toilet.

ds usually obliges and we have him do some wees. and we are off again in the car.

though never thought of taking the potty along with us.

My DS recently did a 7 hour trip no nappy, he normally doesn't tell us when he needs to wee so I was a little worried but he would simply say wee now daddy and we would pull over and he would do his business on the side of the road (country roads no traffic) was so proud of him.

Thanks Ladies!!

Sarah - I had planned on packing the turtle potty in the caravan just in case, I don't know how close the amenities block is at the caravan park. But after your suggestion I'll be packing it in the car, great idea!!

Kellynh - Until this morning I honestly didn't think that would work. However, DS woke this morning for the second day in a row totally dry and waited until I put him on the toilet to do wees.

Anyway, I'm taking that as a sign that I might be able to get him to go before we leave and that he'll hold on until we make a pit stop.

It's going to be a painful trip as it is. My BIL (who's coming too) hates stopping en-route to places. I remember driving back from Rockhampton (to Brisbane), I was pregnant and needed pitstops every couple of hours. My BIL threw a tanti better than any child I've seen. :eg: Well he's been forewarned... ;p

Thanks again Ladies!!

We also packed the potty in the boot when we did a long drive.
