Anyone any tips for treating hay fever? My 3.5 yr old DD has it and suffers, funnily enough, during the night when it's hot. Her eyes get itchy and nose very stuffy. We've tried Zyrtec and Clarantyne but they have minimal effect.

WE come from the UK and she's obviously reacting to new types of pollen here. How long does this season last? WE're knackered from having to get up during the night with her.

Firstly, welcome to Oz! I know what you are going through. My DH has the worst hayfever ever, and DS is starting to go the same way. I have found that some of the cough syrups actually work very well (like Benadryl). It certainly helps with the nasal stuffiness, although I'm not sure about the eye itchiness. That doesn't seem to be a problem for DH so much as the tickle in the sinuses and the pain behind/above/below his eyes (DS does rub his eyes but it never seems too bad).

The hayfever season varies depending on where you are. Also, it depends on whether it's actually allergies (my DH is allergic to every type of grass that exists jusst about) or hayfever. The hayfever season should start to wrap up about now, but if it's allergies it will keep going. The only time DH is OK is the dead of winter! Also, some places (like Canberra) are worse than others.

Anyway, good luck with finding a therapy that works. Having disturbed sleep is very hard.

Cheers!
