I need some help and I'm hoping somebody out there will have some words of wisdom and advice for me.
Charlotte has just turned 3. She isn't toilet trained yet. She has shown lots of interest in wearing knickers and she will happily ask to go to the toilet at creche (does wee and poo on the toilet there). However, she refuses to go at home.
On a Wednesday evening the girls are babysat by a creche carer as DH and I both go out for a few hours. So now Charlotte has started going to the toilet at home on a Wednesday night when Kim comes to look after her. But she refuses point blank when DH or I are at home!!
I often put Charlie in knickers on the weekend, she never asks to go the toilet, even though I ask her every half hour or so if she needs to go. She has never wet her knickers - she just holds on until I put a nappy or a pair of pull-ups on her.
What can I do? I can't force her as that will make it worse. She is obviously ready as she is going to the toilet at creche, but she doesn't relate that to myself and DH. I feel like the worst Mummy in the whole world.
I thought of perhaps letting her wear her knickers, keep asking her if she needs to go, and if she doesn't go to the toilet, then she just wets her knickers. Perhaps wetting her pants will help? But it could also be a major setback .....
This toilet training gig is sooooo hard.
Anyone? :quest:
