Hi

My DD has all her toddler teeth, (including 2nd lot of molars) and seems to have a sore mouth again. She won't let me see properly in there and I'm worried she may have swollen gums right in the back.

I was wondering whether it is too early to take her to a dentist (she's 2 1/4yrs old). Has anyone ever had experience with more teeth coming this early? Any advice on the dentist visit? She can't go to mine because she cries at the sight of him!

Thanks!

my daughter started going when she was about 1 1/2yo,

The dentist used to give her gloves to put on to her hands so she could touch her teeth whilst he had a quick look inside. He sometimes counts them, other times not.

My daughter is now 4 1/2yo and still enjoys going to the dentist when I do, usually every 6 to 8 months.

My son whom is almost two loves going and watching her and giggles about it, he to loves playing with the gloves.

I dont think its ever to early to take a chidl to the dentist. Maybe find one that is good with children or one that will distract (or be funny) whilst looking which seems to be the key with our dentist.

Try to find a local preschool dentist in your area or one from school. I took Natasha to our local perschool dentist for her very first visit. She was 3. The room and everything doesnt look like a dentist. The place have a kiddie environment (colourful and fun etc), and the dentist wearing normal clothes instead of dentist jacket. They also gives a little gift when everything's done. This really help Natasha to settle down and sits beacuse she didnt really wants to sit at the 'magic chair' at first. Even if just for a quick checkup, it will help her to get her used to the idea.

Good luck!
