I've just realised the whole world can see my facebook photos without even being my friend. Googling instructions on how to block people from seeing your photos brings up out of date instructions that don't apply to the privacy settings. Anyone know how to set my photos so only friends can see? Thanks in advance

You need to go into your 'Privacy' settings to control who can and cannot see various features of your profile.
That, or you can go to each photo album and click on the little drop-down menu that allows you to change who can see that particular album. You will need to do this to each album and change it to 'Friends Only.'

Each of your folders that contain images have settings. When you are looking at the thumnail of the album, you'll see a number (the number of photos in that album) and then a symbol next to it. That will show you if your album is public or just for friends.
The little icon has a pull down menu and you can choose your security level there.
I just noticed our cover photos are all public and can't be changed. Wasn't aware of that.

Thanks. I think you can change settings for individual photos in cover album

I can't seem to adjust the Cover album SarDonik. If you manage to do it, let me know.

As far as I've explored, cover photos cannot be made private

How annoying hey. I suppose that reminds us not to put personal images there.

It is very annoying! Hopefully they will change that once they start tweaking the whole new timeline layout. I've just been putting pictures of scenery etc as my cover photos now that I know they are public!

How do you tell? Is it only if you have timeline?
I tried logging out of facebook and then going to my facebook address - all I can see is my profile photo, everything else asks me to sign in to facebook. Does this mean that's all people could see if they DID sign in to fbook but weren't my friend?

There is an option somewhere if you're not on timeline (I think in your privacy settings somewhere) where you can actually click on a link to view your profile how others see it. Have a search around in your privacy settings and you should be able to find it.
Because if you're logging out and viewing it unlogged in, you are viewing it as an unregistered user, but there is also a privacy option of what registered users can see (whether they are your friends or not).
So I recommend finding that option in your privacy settings where you can see your profile how others see it

Just to check that everything that you want private, is.
It is easy to see it how your friends would see it, but I must admit I haven't found how to see how strangers would see it. I am fairly new to fB. So I simply have a dud FB account so I could check at the start.

The other option is to move all photos except the current ones out of your cover photos album.

I've gone in and selected view as . . . and chose public. My page looks as I'd expect it to but if I click on my albums, it takes me to all my photos.
I'm wondering if that's what others see? Now I'm worried.

Hrm, maybe you have to go in and check the privacy of each individual photo album again?
I would assume if each individual photo album is selected as "friends only" sure that's not what everyone sees.
When I view my profile as public I can't see any of my albums.
Also, and I just figured this out - for Profile Pictures you need to configure each individual photo to 'friends only'.
How annoying.

You could adjust your profile so that it can't be googled, and so that only friends and/or friends of friends can search for you.
The first is under 'how you connect' and the second is under 'apps, games and websites'.

Can you make it so that only friends of your friends can see photos that you've been tagged in or if your friend has made it public, stop them from being shown in your profile pics?

I'm pretty sure you can miriams, there is a setting somewhere in the privacy settings, I'm not sure of the exact location though so I'd have to have a little look... if anyone knows chime in!
