DD's school trip is to Canberra and the snow in early Sept. i've volunteered as a parent helper for the 1/2 the day on snow (insane. I know! But I used to ski almost daily in the winter as a teen and I miss it, so have jumped at the chance) Plus it's technically a 3 day holiday for me
I'll be driving down by myself as the parents have to get themselves there and get their own accomodation. I've found a private ski lodge in Perisher (Aurora - anyone stayed there?) that is only $165/night and includes fully cooked breakfast and 3 course dinner.
Anyway I've been told that there is no parking allowed over night in Perisher. The lodge has suggested that I either drive up and drop off my stuff, then drive back down the mountain and get the ski tube back or just get the ski tube up at the very beginning.
Soooo my questions are:
1) if I drive up to Perisher do I need chains? I drive a small SUV with 4WD
2) is it true that there is no overnight parking at Perisher?
3) should I just get the SkiTube up from Bullocks Flat and save the hassle?
4) has anyone done this on their own before? I plan on hiring my gear at Perisher, though cheaper at Jindabyne, I CBF dragging it up the mountain to save $20.
Can anyone give me some tips on making this as eas as possible on myself!!!!
