I'm pretty much concerned about the required upkeep - I'm a low maintenance girl!

Also concerned wave will = curl if I go too short! Dandelion is a particular fear I have.

I was hoping by keeping the fringe longer-ish I'd at least reduce that as for some reason the front part of my hair is crazy straight while the other bits are not at all.

guess if it doesn't work out I'll go buy some hats.

I had wave, and have yet to get ringlets, which makes me sad. Instead, since it can't "wave" it sticks up. I get the volume without the pretty.

In terms of upkeep, I don't brush it with anything other than my fingers or it fluffs. I'm just letting it grow at its natural pace. When it was super short, I did trim my own neckline a bit because I was getting a mini-mullet/rats tail thing going on which was hideous, but now the upper layers are growing down to reach it, I don't have any plans to touch it for the forseeable future. I want to grow it out to bob length again.

If you find a good cutter, you needn't go in for frequent maintenance with a short cut. A good cutter will ensure your style has room to 'grow out' a little and still look fantastic.

Go the short, I say, YOLO.

I've had short hair for the majority of my adult life. I love it!!

An experienced and good stylist will definitely pay off in the long run as Frog mentioned, they'll cut it so it grows out well. I had a great hairdresser in Melb (who actually wasn't that expensive for the amazing cuts they would do) and people would comment on my great haircut when it was growing out!

I've got a round face, and I find feathery fringes and bits around the face soften my shape and take the attention from my double chin and jaw. Longer fringes have worked well, but I get annoyed with them as they grow.

Go get a free consult with a couple of good hairdressers, and you'll soon pick up on what will work with your hair/face shape. Also, in the growing out phase - which does suck - bobby pins and great colour ease the pain.

Do it, Do it!!
Cheers.

p.s. I find short hair tends to make me look younger and more stylish than long hair. Personally, I think the default long hair can really weigh some people down and doesn't look as good as a short cut would.

Thanks to all your fab advice!

I took the plunge and went short, I have left longer bits at the front which still tuck behind my ears, and the rest is about Ginnifer goodwins length.

I love it, I did end up with a heavy curl on the short bits, but it's actually not loooking that bad, I just have to work out how not to turn them into Frizz.

Thanks again for all your great advice!
