my DD's very loved "white" teddy is very very grey. we wash it regularly, soak it in napisan but it just doesn't come up white. she holds it up to her face to fall asleep, but she doesn't suck on it.
is it safe to bleach it? |

I would bleach it, however I would make sure it was rinsed a few times afterwards.
Can I ask why you are bleaching it, is it a look thing? I would assume that washing it in napisan would remove any harmful germs.... |

Personally I wouldn't bleach it if she sleeps with it and has it with her all the time. Does it really need to be white? as long as it is clean. My DS had a white blanket that he loved to take with him everywhere and sleep with every night and it has faded to a whitish grey colour over the last five years but it is still clean when we wash it so we don't worry about the colour.

You could try the old fashioned method of spraying it with lemon juice and drying in the sun.

I soaked dd's fave teddy once and she hated me for it - she was so upset and said it didn't smell like her teddy anymore - it did come up nicely but I was not popular. If you are looking for something a bit gentler and more natural try ecostore laundry soaker - I soak mcns in it and they come up really white and nice and soft but it is plant based.
As pp said remember that clean is not a colour, so as long as it's clean doesn't really matter if it's white so much. goodluck |

I have found that bleach can actually yellow synthetic fibres so if the teddy is made from a synthetic fibre, I definitely would not bleach him. |

Bleach will also speed up the "falling apart" process. Considering how loved the teddy is, I wouldn't.

I would be too scared it would fall apart so wouldn't take the risk.
