Mum of girls
DD2 (Taylor) was going to be called Ashley, up to birth. A good friend has a daughter Ashlee, who we see regularly, and decided it might upset her/be weird if we called our child Ashley. I still love it though, and it will be back on the list if we ever have another DD. If she was a boy (thought she was) she had Mitchell, Brodie, Sam to choose from.

DD1 (Hayden) I cannot remember now. If she was a boy she was still called Hayden, but I was certain I was having a girl.

We went in with two names and two backups, and wanted to see DD before we made the final decision.

In the end, we decided that DD was clearly a Claudia and not a Harriet - and we didn't even get to our backup names, Morgan and Georgia.

We also had a backup boys' name - Miles - just in case we were told the wrong sex at the 20 week scan.

We would probably still have the same top 3 if we have a girl next, although we would probably put Nina in as the fourth name, maybe to replace Georgia which would move into the top 2, or maybe as a top 2 name with Harriet. We've gone off Miles though - it didn't gel too well with our surname, and it's getting way too popular where we are.

For DD1, I had a name and a back-up - there was a lot of argy-bargy about which name to use from family, but in the end the less popular of the two was the winner. I named DD2 the more popular name that lost out to DD1's name.
If I had had a boy, he would have been Max or Kai.

when i grow up i wanna be like me
we never had back up names for any of them unless you count the names we had chosen in case we got the sex wrong.

DS1 Mason John would have been Lily Maddison (glad we never ended up using this as we ended up deciding to give all our children family names for middle names which would have meant if a girl he would have been the only one left out).
DD Anna Kate Edna if she was a boy would have been Cameron Kain
DS2 Zachary Alan if a girl would have been Lily Edna (and DD would have been just Anna Kate instead of the double middle name), though I was also tossing up Claire but couldn't get past the association I had with it.

For DS I wanted Zac and DH wanted Mark. He is Alex (though I wanted Alexander) If he was a girl he would have been Samantha Maree.

For this baby for a boy I liked Liam and DH wanted Mark again Dominic would have won I think. We had a girls name but keep going off it so baby is still unnamed with no ideas in sight.

We were pretty much set, but I would have also liked Luke or Ben, and DP also would have liked James or Duncan. The MN was nonnegotiable. We promised we'd be open to one of those names if the 'fit' better. But as soon as he was born, I called out 'Adam, Adam, give me my baby' and that was it. He is 100% Adam. I can't imagine any of the other names fitting.

For a girl we were less certain. We were pretty happy with Amy Adele, but the names Sarah, Tegan, and Hannah were also floated with mn Amy.

Pippa was our backup for both our girls
For our boys, Reid was a definite contender, and my husband loved River. If my twin boys had been girls, they would have been Pippa and Delilah

Nathaniel was our back up for DS
And Elizabeth nn Libby if he'd be a girl. DF is still set on Nathaniel if we have another boy, but Elizabeth is not on our list anymore

Keep calm & put it on EB.
DD1 was Kennedy & DD2 had too many, Saffron was my choice and what I honestly thought we'd go with. I guess we used the back up name.
