Now that would be funny! Do you think there's something in the water? I'll keep an eye out for you. You'll be easy to spot if you're feeling like me - washed out and a bit green around the gills! I don't think we're immediate neighbours though, most of my neighbours are male or old (or both)!

My appointment is on Tues, exactly one week before yours! I have the same info pack, from back when I first phoned them. I thought the water birth booklet was the general policy for SA, but I'm hoping Flinders do have the facilities (surely they would if they send the info out??). I'm finding it all a bit confusing and overwhelming at the moment to be honest. I think I'll probably try and stop thinking about it too much until Tues, and give myself a break. My mind's racing!!!

If Brownhill Creek almost goes through your backyard, then yep, there's something in the water biggrin.gif

True, I didn't think about the booklet being general policy. I know they put baths in many of the rooms when they revamped the birth suite, so one would think they're able to be used! Good luck for Tuesday original.gif

Yes, I've been thinking about what kind of birth I want for the past ten years!

I have always wanted a homebirth. None of the women on both sides of my family have ever needed interventions or caesarians. I'd say I come from pretty strong breeding stock. wink.gif

My husband has read the WA Homebirth Review and admits that the evidence demonstrates excellent outcomes for low risk women, yet...he is still not comfortable with the idea of staying at home. I know this is our fear culture influencing the way he views birth and he knows this. But, the anxiety is still there. It's difficult to unlearn what you've been taught your whole life.

We attended a Birth Choices seminar at Community Midwifery WA and I signed up for a domino birth with the midwives there, so they will provide me with all of my prenatal care as well as attend the birth at a hospital. To cover all of my bases, I've made sure that the CMWA will be ok with me if I decided on the big day to just stay at home.

Because these two options just weren't enough, I've also registered for a birth with the Family Birthing Centre. They have lowish c-section rates and an episiotomy rate of 0.5%. I like those odds!

What it all boils down to is this. I just want a normal birth with no interventions and continuity of care. Here's hoping I get it!

QUOTE (rissa88 @ 05/08/2012, 10:24 AM) *
This time around, I plan to go drug free, my first labor I had a shot that put me to sleep ( cant remember the name but it also causes short term memory loss). I asked for the epi when I woke up but they didnt give it to me (thank god). Labor pushing etc hurt alot but I was scared aswell, my second was induced NEVER AGAIN, was absolutely horrrible both my children took there time coming out (1st my bowels had an enema night before I went into labor, 2nd my bladder they were preping me for surgery EC and told me my baby would die if I didnt ) when they put the catheder in my son was born just. A few minutes later healthy as an ox, they thought he was in distress because they kept loosing his heart beat.

This time around I want more then anything to labor and birth at home but thanks to my now ex drs the midwifes wont do it, so im opting for a fall water labor and birth at kaleeya hospital. Drug free, I know I can do it I dont need to be set up to. Machines and drips.

Hi Rissa, have you had an appointment at Kaleeya yet? I keep on meaning to check them out, but I haven't gotten around to it just yet.
