Thank you for this topic and all the replies.

I have a bigger baby and am constantly being told he is a prime candidate for obesity, diabetes, that I should be reducing his food intake ( 3 meals of solids - roughly 3-4 tablespoons in each and 4 x 180ml bottles) at almost 6months and weighing almost 9kgs. (not from health professionals, just know it alls in the street!!! or relatives i'd rather not see!)

He is well covered, gorgeous cheeks, and cute chubby legs but not rolls upon rolls, he is a solid and has a big frame and has consistently been in the top 75% since birth so I am no worried about him from a health perspective but getting a complex when strangers in the street or a shop assistant will exclaim, omg what a big boy you have there. or how old is that nugget?! He must break your back, etc

Or when they see my husband and I, who are not big people, they always exclaim, Is he yours? how did you end up with such a big baby?

Other than size, he is a very happy, healthy baby and I know I shouldn't let people's comments get to me but I do second guess myself when I hear them all the time. I worry that I am over feeding him as advice i've been given is to feed him until he refuses anymore, sometimes this is a few mouthfuls, sometimes it's the whole bowl of food. I need to remember that the health professionals have no issue with his size so I shouldn't either.

Your comments confirmed that.
Thank you. xo

If he's long & heavy I think it's probably fine.

We have the opposite problem... my almost 19 month old weighs the same as your 6 month old! DS is 85cm though so very very tall but very very skinny. He was 3.9kg born though so big to start.

So..... He is not off the chart anymore weight-wise, actually dropped to 95th percentile, but all of a sudden way above the chart in his length! 75 cm at 6 months!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

The conclusion I've come to is that the babies rise and fall from the chart a bit; secondly, I just have a tall, strong baby who is likely going to be a strapping tennis player or a rugby star biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Or just a tall executive (recent thread on looks and jobs).

Cbone - enjoy your big baby, I love feeling my son's weight in my arms, somehow it is very reassuring. Like, if he were to fall sick or something, there is more of him to fight whatever comes his way. To my husband, it is a complete badge of honour, I brings DS over to his office sometimes and he parades him around.

My son also doesn't have rolls of fat, but is well covered with flesh all over, and has a wide frame.
