Okay - this section is WAAAAAAY too quiet - where are you lot?? HEY?? biggrin.gif

So, in finding out if there are any of us left here in EB Land - who is planning on Home birthing? Or thinking about it?

Or am I the only one? HAHA

Well - I'll start the ball rolling - we are home birthing in Nov. This will be our third child and second home birth!! :yay:
We have had no scans other than our first dating scan and I had just had a miscarriage at 9weeks a few weeks beforehand - and I mean a few weeks - I was waiting for my next cycle to start charting again - so we wanted to check that there were no complications. Everything looked fine!

Feeling like Death has taken up residence in my body though - BWAHAHA so feeling as normal as I do when pregnant - SO SO SO looking forward to this being over and done with!

I keep looking around for things to do - but at our third, we kinda have things as we need them. Our youngest is turning 3 in Sept and this new bubba will be due the week or so after our eldest birthday - all gonna be an exciting time, I'm thinking!!

Had the usual bullcrap already from friends and family rolleyes.gif laughing2.gif But I told them, if they are not willing to buy me a house, they have no say in how I live my life (Hey, it was worth a shot at a house LMAO!!)

So, any one else taking this journey this year? original.gif

I'm taking the journey of investigating it further because DP wants another baby in a couple of years, and I am considering home birth as a way to address one of my major concerns which has currently led me to feeling like not having another. I'm interested in the ins and outs of the process. I guess I've read a lot about what a home birth is like to actually do, but not about how to arrange one, what it's like in lead up etc. I know vaguely that there's some out of pocket expenses which is what ruled me out of investigating it further for my first baby, but I'm now happy to overcome that obstacle with time and planning on my side.

So if you ladies don't mind I'd love to stalk this thread original.gif

Hi, I'm planning a homebirth for October. This will be my second attempt at a homebirth, as I ended up transferring last time due to a long posterior labour and finished up with a caesarean which was disappointing. I'm hoping this time will be different . . .

Welcome Pooks_!! hhugs.gif

I started off my home birthing journey with a traumatic hospital birth - I swore black and blue I was never having another ! laughing2.gif I even tried to convince my Dr to give me a hysterecomy! Super glad he didn't!! biggrin.gif

Money can be a big thing - I have found that it tends to be a stumbling block for many want to be home birthers.

So this is the perfect time to work out if it is right for you! Best thing about home birthing, if you get to the end, and decide that you don't want it anymore - you can change - or vise versa!! biggrin.gif

My main expense is the outlay of the birth support or midwife - prices vary depending where you live and some midwives are happy to arrange payments other prefer upfront. Always go with word of mouth recommendations as well as your own research IMO.

Feel free to ask any questions - remember, we were all in your shoes once, we know all about the questions that can pop up from the depths of our minds biggrin.gif

congrats freakypet and cherryames! Hope it goes well!

I wish I was planning one for this time (#4 due in Feb) but our housing situation is not ideal and I can't make it work :'( Unlike my other 3 this one came as a total surprise so of course worst possible timing for a HB!

Maybe next time? Eek - maybe 4 is enough! laughing2.gif

Building calm everyday...
We're planning a homebirth for December. After a few years of trying it's good to finally be pg - we'd pretty much gotten to the point where we thought it'd never happen. This will be our second child, first HB. DS is 6 and begging for a sibling.

Congratulations to all - looking forward to sharing this journey with likeminded people.

Lol, I had the same panic about #3 too - and he was a much awaited planned pg...

Unfortunately we just sold our house and are in temporary housing with parents until we buy so far too chaotic to plan a HB this time! Of course those surprising 2 little lines came up 2 weeks after we moved out... rolleyes.gif

If you don't mind I'll hang around though, I'm planning to go with a caseload midwife so as similar as I can. original.gif
