Just thought i'd kick start the new IUI thread! original.gif

DH and I met with our FS today and we decided to go ahead with our first IUI cycle. I've been diagnosed with PCOS and apparently Clomid has a lower chance of success rate in our situation so IUI it is!

Was wondering if most of you ladies had to go through several IUI cycles before it worked out? DH is 31 and I'm 30 and hopefully we haven't left it too late!

I'm also still reeling from the hy-co-sy scan from 2 weeks ago so any advice/prep for what's to come in IUI would be greatly appreciated. original.gif

Mirror, mirror, shiny glass, tell me that is NOT my ass!!
Hi readytobemum

I have PCOS as well. I'm doing IUI with Gonal F injections. I just had my insemination done yesterday so I'm officially in the 2ww.

It's completely normal to feel how you are feeling. It's all very scary and daunting.

Ask the questions and I'll try to answer them.

Oh and welcome to the group! original.gif

Hi can I join in too? I am on day 4 of my first stimulated IUI cycle. First scan is on Monday and I am so worried that there will be no follies. We previously had 3 cycles of clomid and never managed a single follicle.
I was so worried about giving myself that first injection that i sat there with the needle in my hand ready to go for ages and just could not bring myself to jab. When I finally mustered up the courage I was so surprised that I really didn't feel anything. The next time it was super easy. Do the trigger shots hurt more?

Hi number4please and welcome

I've still got my Trigger sitting in the fridge. Last cycle and this one, I managed to surge on my own, so I didn't need it. Not bad considering I have PCOS original.gif

But from memory (have had O/I with clomid years ago) the trigger did sting a little if you injected it too quick.

These two stimulated cycles I have had, it takes a while for my body to response, CD9 always had Estrogen as less than 150, so if no follies show straight away, they may have to up your dose to get your body to respond. Try to think of it as a trial run to see how your body responds - I wish I had of last cycle as I really started to panic on CD9. original.gif

Had my day 9 ultrasound this morning and had lots of little follicles on the right side and i think something on the left also. I was so busy asking other questions i forgot to ask if this was a good sign. He left me on the same low 50 iu dosage and wants another ultrasound on Friday so i assume its ok. Its a heck of a lot more than we ever had on clomid.

Thanks for replying. I have been googling madly trying to find info and was starting to worry that it wasnt a good sign, that maybe there are always little follicles just sitting around doing nothing.

Dr Google is evil. But if you have some follies already, by friday you should be able to see if one or two are dominant, if not, they may up your dose - but having said that, they might be a bit cautious because if 3 or more appear to be dominant, they might cancel the cycle.

But because it's your first cycle, everything is unknown - and it could go either way, at least they will have an idea on how you respond and can work toward rectifying it if they need to IYKWIM.

But come back in and keep us updated!

I am off for another scan this morning but i have lost all confidence in the cycle and am expecting bad news. I had nice EWCM from the first few days of injections and now there is nothing, in fact its well and truely gone in the opposite direction. Everything i have read talks about EWCM being such a good sign and her i am with zip, zero, zilch. sad.gif I thought things had looked so positive too.
