This thread is open to absolutely anyone, regardless of faith, beliefs, religion or thinking.

If you would like prayer, good thoughts, well wishes or just to ask for some universal assistance - whatever you would like to call it - here is the place.

I also answer private prayer requests; simply pm me (Ange Vert). All I will do is ask for prayer for you and use your name. Although I often respond by posting, I know others read the thread and will include your request in their prayers as well.

If you simply want me to pray completely privately, simply title your PM prayer request as "Private Prayer Request" and your name will not be placed in the thread, but I will pray privately for you.

'Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer.'

Hi Charleylola,

Praying for your friends; that they might know the presence and the blessing of God in their time of grief; and that their family and community might surround them with love and care, as well as practical support.

Today I've received an email from the pastor of an Armenian Evangelical Church in Aleppo. Although it is long, I've posted the bulk of it here (minus personal greetings and so forth) so that we can be better informed of the situation these people are facing, and ask you to pray for the particular needs they are experiencing as part of our general prayers for peace in the region:

"Sometimes I have the feeling that the world starts forgetting Aleppo, because no more new “interesting” news for the media. That’s why there is no more “exciting” news in the media and people got used to hear the same stories. But unfortunately, the situation is the same or may be little bit more. The people are the one who is suffering.

Thank you so much for your prayers, concerns and support and I will try to give you some information about the areas and the fields that we are trying to do our best.

1. Refugees: Families left their home, because they are not able to live due to being in war zone or already their homes are destroyed.
In this category, we have.-

a. Iraqis .They left Iraq since Iraqi war. They have rents to pay and they need money for living and without any income. Before several months, their only income was the UN and they were receiving $100 monthly. Now the UN stopped their support .No income at all. Still they are waiting for the papers through the UN, to immigrate to another country.
We are trying to help for their rent and giving food parcels.

b. Syrians, from Homs (city in the middle of Syria).Since nine month they are renting rooms and homes in Aleppo. They left their homes, when the fanatic rebels entered their area and occupied and ruined their houses. They left without even taking clothes with them. They don’t have any income.
Here, too, we are trying to help for their rent and giving food parcels.

c. Syrians, from Aleppo. They left their homes, because of the war. They are obliged to rent houses to live.
Here, too, we are trying to help for their rent and giving food parcels, clothing, blankets...
For example, the monthly rent for one room is $150.
One box of food parcel’s cost is $ 45-55.It includes.- Ingredients, cooking oil, flour, tuna fish, spaghetti, rice, sugar, tea, jam, detergents, soap, dates, milk and cheese for kids..

2. Needy Families: Families who have no jobs, since more than one year, and especially the last 5-6 month, because of the war situation in Aleppo. In this category we have families whose shops are destroyed due to war and no income at all.
We try to help them by food parcels, clothing, and milk for kids …

3. Students: We try to help the needy students for their books and registration fee. For each student’s registration fee and the cost of the books, varies from $200-300.The tuition is very expensive and it varies between $800 – 1200.

4. Patients: We try to help some people who are suffering some serious illness. Unfortunately no insurances or medical aid. Therefore, they need help for their treatments, medicine, and hospitalization. Unfortunately, most of the doctors, left the city and there is shortage of medicine. People trying get the medicine from the black market.

5. Widows and Elderly: We try to help them by food parcels, medicine and provide some of their other needs. Most of them without incomes (no retirements).

6. New challenge. - Fuel for heating homes.
As you know and you already experienced it, Aleppo is a desert city and the weather is very cold in winter time. Now, we are in winter season and unfortunately there is no fuel for heating homes.
In black market there is fuel, but it is five times more. It is very hard for a family to get fuel .Especially the need is for families who have small kids.
For example, a family needs minimum 1000 liter fuel for winter and the cost will be more than $2000. Unbelievable prices. Our hope is that they don’t cut the electricity, in order for the people to heat the houses by electricity and then they have to pay very huge electricity bill.
Now, since ten days a lot of places are without electricity or they have it for ten hours daily. huge challenge plus the challenge of the bread, since one week.

7. The last challenge is the kidnapping of the Christians and asking ransom for release. This is terrible. We are very careful and most of my time, I am in the building.

Unfortunately, the need is increasing. But we try to help as much as we can and I am aware that we can’t do everything. Meanwhile, always hoping and praying, especially in this Advent season, that God’s peace will dwell in our city and country and hoping that people can have better days and live in a better and peaceful situation.

Again thank you so much for your prayers concerns and support.

If there are some people who want to help in any of these areas, or if you need more details, let me know."

Also a quick update from the same pastor, sent two days later:

"Since three days ,no electricity.
Since one week ,no bread.
Since 24 hours ,no water.
Since one week,no mobile phones.

But thank God we have air to breath.

KEEP PRAYING."

Hi Everyone,
My seven year old daughter is having a lot of fear and anxiety about her parents (us) dying and is very scared about going to sleep. This has been going for a couple of months now. She has told us she wants to speak to our priest, but I was also looking for prayers from the faithful community to help her during this difficult time.
Any support you can give her (as she reads this) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Christine

Praying that the Lord would surround your little girl on every side,
keeping comfort near and fear far away,
peace within and danger out,
hope near, and darkness out.

Is it too late to ask for prayer for my cousin who died (from an act of violence) earlier this month?
I've felt better since her funeral but I worry for my cousins immediate family very much as they are suffering, badly.
Thanks Ange.
