Just curious, how much does your 7/8 month old eat?
DS seems to have a huge appetite, just wondering what other babies are eating? He's demand bf and started solids at 6 months, so about 6 weeks ago. He squeals for more food, not sure how much is too much though! Thanks. |

DS is formula fed and has 3 bottles per day and 3 "meals" per day.
Usually rice cereal with fruit mixed for breakfast, lunch is a small bowl of savory and dinner is the same sort of thing. He always cries for more but I know when to cut him off now otherwise he overfills his belly and vomits. Edit - spelling mistakes. This post has been edited by mrs_bubbles: 01/07/2012, 11:01 PM |

A lot! I feel like I am constantly pureeing at the moment.
3 meals and a snack at about 4, a formula bottle at night and bfed on demand all day. The b'feeding is calming down now, maybe 5 feeds per day. I have to cut him off, he would just keep opening his mouth and eat as much as i spooned in. Total guts. |

From what I've been told, 2-3 tablespoons per meal is sufficient for a baby starting solids. DS is 7 months old and is formula fed. Like Mrs_Bubbles's DS, my little guy usually has 3 x 180mL bottles and 3 "meals" per day. He sometimes has a couple of 60-90mL feeds, depending how he feels. We've got him onto water, as well, just sips from a cup when he's eating.
For breakfast, he usually has a slice of toast with salt-reduced butter, cut into soldiers, to feed himself with. Then I feed him a small, mashed banana. Lunch is usually 3 tablespoons of plain yogurt, mixed with blueberries or pear. Dinner is whatever I've blitzed for him. Usually veges and meat. He tends to be pickiest in the evening, and often doesn't finish his "dinner" and will have a bigger bottle at bedtime to make up for it. |

How much would be in a bowl?
We haven't had any vomiting episodes, but I stop feeding him and he squeals and squeals. It's making me wonder! Never had this issue with DD. He would have 5/6 bfs, plus 3 meals (equivalent to 160gm raffertys pouch) plus whatever 'snacks' DD feeds him, and he still squeals! Today he ate so much, and still squealed, and has had two bfs since dinner! |

Ehill - sounds the same as my guts! Glad I'm not the only one 'cutting off' their piggy. Did you introduce the formula due to his appetite?
Katymac - I think he'd pack his bags and leave if I tried to stop at 2-3 teaspoons! Today he had Breakfast - scrambled eggs, one egg, cheese, tomato, one piece of toast Snack small banana Lunch pita wrap with chicken and salad, ate all the chicken, half the pita, with avocado. Left most salad. Snack yoghurt 120gm tub Dinner 160gm raffertys pouch as we are on holidays and im lazy. Licked the bowl and cried when it was taken away...! Plus 6 bfs today |

QUOTE Katymac - I think he'd pack his bags and leave if I tried to stop at 2-3 teaspoons! ROFL!! Well, he's eating well! Is he crawling about the place? He'd probably burn up a tonne more energy than my little guy who's just learning to crawl (and recovering from a cold). I wouldn't worry How long are his BFs? Does he drink a lot at each feed? |

Yes, i introduced the evening bottle of formula when he was about 10 weeks old. The bfeeding was insane and I dont know what I would have done otherwise. It was taking me 2 or 3 hours to feed him enough to settle him for the night. I tried not cutting him off the other night. I just kept spooning the stuff in for dinner.......put him to bed and within an hour he was waking crying with an obvious tummy ache. |
