Just looking at the latest woolworths catalogue and they have a product called 'Bebi Infant suitable water'.

It also has a ready to use infant teat so all you have to do is add formula or just give them water.

Its a good marketing ploy for those who think its too hard to prepare a bottle of water.
I certainly won't be buying one...

Wow, imagine the mark up on it!
Sounds like when they started selling pre-cut fruit.

it's a convenience. i can see it coming in handy for people in an emergency (ie a bottle has leaked/no boiled water available), much like formula stick packs/'poppers'.

Exactly what I was thinking! You wouldn't buy it to use every day, but if you get caught out at home or if you're out and have no other option than to buy a tin of formula and a bottle of water... If DD ends up bottle fed then I would consider having one as an emergency.

I'll be boycotting this product on the basis that they actively market fruit juice to babies in a bottle with a teat. They have a Facebook page where they are pretending to be open to hearing issues from concerned parents, but when someone posts a comment they don't like, or a link to nutrition advice from WHO and NHMRC, they are actually banning people and deleting their posts!

Edit: I have deleted my comment about Bebi just selling the water used to mix formula. Because I have never used formula, I didn't release that it's not just the water that needs to be sterile, the formula has to be heated to 70ºC and then cooled to be sterile... so unless parents are able to heat the bottle after mixing, this could be dangerous as well! I believe you can buy tetrapacks of premixed formula that is safe for babies and would be far safer than using this product!

I've also posted a link to this statement by the Dental Health Association

Beats me why they couldn't have just sold the sterile water product for mixing formula and left it at that shrug.gif
