Would anyone know what is the best way to convert VHS to DVD. there appear to be a couple of websites that offer free software to do this??? As technical illiterate I'm a little nervous to do this...
There are a couple of website that have a pick up service but I'd prefer to take it into a shop...any ideas? TIA |

Speak of the devils, parcel arrived today, might take a look at them on the weekend. They weren't that cheap, but these are videos of my now deceaed MIL, so would have paid anything really.

I want to do this with the little cassettes from our old video camera. The camera died so can't do it myself but I have so many cassettes that I'm worried about the cost of getting them all done. What is the price range?

I paid around $800 for 40+ little tapes and about 5 regular VHS tapes.

There is also a place called DVD infinity in crows nest, not sure how much, but they did some good quality work for my DH who got a lot of his tapes transferred

I'm in absolute shock about that price. I just had a quick look on ebay to find out what it would cost to buy a replacement video camera to just convert my old tapes myself, most less then $100, actually around $60. I think I will just buy one and do it myself. I was even thinking about some ancient tapes my parent's have from the early 90's and checked the video camera prices for them...$10.
Might start my own business converting for other people if that is what the going rate is. |

The tapes had been sitting around for years, some had gotten mouldy, price also included restoring them so the footage could be copied.

Just make sure you ask if the conversion is done is Australia or overseas, as it is often not made clear, and you certainly don't want to risk your precious memories being flown all over the place.
For example, http://scancorner.com.au/videoconversion/ send their stuff overseas. This post has been edited by blaast: 12/06/2012, 11:33 AM |
