I had one with DD2 from 6-12 weeks, I was told by my Dr to try and rest when possible, not that easy with a 2yr old, anyway by my 12 week scan it had dissolved, I was told they normally do by 20 weeks?! DD2 is 3.5 now, best of luck, they are scary at the time, I passed quite a few small clots, it was not a fun time.

I finally got to see a specialist today and everything looks as good as it can. Whilst they can't give me a guarantee, they are not concerned about me having a miscarriage. I'm still only 7w4d so still a long way to go but I feel alot better.

Thankyou so much for all the posts and keep them coming as I think it is great to have this information.

I am really pleased to hear that. Just know that you will still have up and down days but if you can, try to enjoy your pregnancy. I say that as I was in a permanent state of panic that I didn't let myself "daydream" about my baby and now look back and regret that.
I know that they say that bed rest does nothing but I do feel that it helped me (but then again it also made me a bit of a neurotic recluse).
I'm sending you positive vibes.

Hello OP,

Firstly, I know the worry associated with your situation and all I can say is hang in there! Great news about your appt today, seems very positive.

I had a very large SCH with my DS (he is now 4.5years old). I had continual bleeding from 5 weeks and monitoring and finally at the 20 week scan the placenta was larger than the SCH and the risk was reduced. My OB old me to do nothing any more strenuous than read a book however having a 9 month old that time that was tricky. The risk seems to stem from the SCH becoming a solid clot which can then dislodge and take the sac with it sad.gif my bleeding continued for the whole pg and the SCH was attached the placenta after birth.

All I can tell you is there are a lot of good outcomes, try to rest as much as you can and stay positive. My dear mum kept saying this baby is meant to be and I hung on to that thought!

Enjoy your pregnancy,

Take care, x

My daughter went through all those scares with bleeding and spotting. She went for oodles of scans as she was so worried. It turned out (in her case) that she had twins and one twin had not survived, so this was causing the bleeding. The other one was fine and is now a happy 4 year old. It is hard to try and stay positive, but there are a lot of good stories here. bbighug.gif

Hey OP! Lots of success stories here and fingers crossed you and bub will be able to tell your story to another stressed mummy.

I bled on about 4 or 5 different occasions during my pregnancy. IN fact this time last year I was going through the exact same thing! I had implantation bleeding which I thought was the start of my period and then bled at 5, 8, 9 and 10 weeks. The bleed at 10 weeks lasted the longest (about 4 days) and it was heavy but all dark. The other bleeds were just on toilet paper when I wiped or a little bit on a pad. I visited my OB every fortnight until our 20 week scan when we were given the all clear. The bleed was largest at 10 weeks and then continually shrunk as it was reabsorbed each consecutive scan. I didn't have anymore external bleeding after that. My (nearly) 5 month old son is sleeping soundly now and was born a healthy 4.215kg.

The only other thing I can tell you is that the only thing that eased my mind was hearing that wonderful heartbeat. Also, you have to try and resist googling. There may be stories there that ease your mind but there will also be lots that don't. Put the iphone down or step away from the keyboard!

Best of luck.

Hi, I'm back again. Just thought I would keep this post updated as I know people look for info on bleeding while pregnant alot.

Spotting and light bleeding has continued and this weekend I had quite a lot of heavy bleeding and even a clot last night. I didn't rush to emergency as I knew they wouldn't do an ultrasound on the weekend.

I had another ultrasound this morning and bubs is still all good. He/She is now 8w4d and has the cutest little arm and leg buds.

I hope people don't think I am being self indulgent by updating whenever anything happens, I just know what it was like to be looking for information and good stories and I really want to be the good story.

Good to hear a positive update and that bubs is developing well.

FWIW - I think it is great that you are updating. I have so often searched in moments of panic/fear/desperation and you find a thread, but there is no update and that can be frustrating cause you don't know how it turned out (either way). All the best.

Thanks for the update. I've been checking out this forum hoping to hear that things were progressing well for you.
As I said in my first post, I passed clots and had occasional large red bleeds and things still worked out ok. My bleeding resolved itself around week 14/15, which is when my ob said most resolve themselves.
Would love to hear how you are progressing, as it reminds me of me.
